One-of-a-kind, heirloom-quality hammered copper tops have been<br />
individually hand-hammered, formed and assembled using processes and<br />
techniques that are hundreds of years old. The natural patina will vary from<br />
area to area and piece to piece. Just prior to being packaged, a light<br />
coat of paste wax is applied. This application will temporarily slow down the<br />
natural aging process. Much like an antique, heavy-wall kitchen pot or pan<br />
the surface appearance will be the direct result of the approach you take to<br />
maintenance.<br />
Cobblestone fiberglass tops are finished with a durable hand-applied antique finish<br />
to accentuate the old world design. The inner core is constructed of a specially<br />
formulated wood laminate for stability and durability.<br />

<strong>Winston</strong> Finishes - Beyond What You See.<br />
What makes <strong>Winston</strong>’s frame finishes so durable and long- lasting has more to do with what we do to prepare the frames than the end results. A superior finish begins<br />
with the preparation of the surface area. It begins with cleaning the aluminum frames. The “Primer System” <strong>Winston</strong> utilizes is a 7-step process that takes approximately 45<br />
minutes to complete per frame. First, each frame receives an alkaline bath that degreases and etches the frame. Two, clean water rinses follow to remove the alkaline<br />
residue as well any etched particles. Next, a chrome phosphate conversion coating is applied that seals the frame and prevents the formation of corrosion. This step is<br />
followed <strong>by</strong> two additional clean water rinses in preparation for the final stage. During the final stage, each frame is “deionized” which removes any mineral deposits that<br />
might be left from any of the prior stages. This step also provides a greater bonding surface of the aluminum for optimal adhesion of the power paint.<br />
The Big Finish<br />
<strong>Winston</strong>’s finishes begin as a very fine, electrostatic polyester powder that is sprayed onto the frame. The powder is “charged” so that the powder attaches to the frame<br />
much like metal to a magnet. This provides complete and even coverage of the powder. Once covered with the powder, the frames enter a large oven area w<strong>here</strong><strong>by</strong> the<br />
frames are heated to a very high temperature which melts the powder. The oven process takes approximately 30 minutes to complete resulting in a durable, baked on finish.<br />
Premium Finishes<br />
Depending on the finish, <strong>Winston</strong>’s premium finishes are all hand-applied <strong>by</strong> very skilled artists. The finishes are completed in various steps and depending on the actual finish,<br />
involve the use of application tools from specialized brushes to cloths.<br />
Standard and Casual Basic Finishes<br />
Although <strong>Winston</strong>’s Standard and Casual Basic Finishes involve only one application, many of the frames contain several components that meld together to achieve the<br />
desired looks. Some of the finishes contain as many as 5 different color components. Some of the finishes are textured, while others are smooth or hammered, like the Antigua<br />
and Patina Finishes.<br />
Regardless of the finish chosen, rest assured they will be very durable and effective in protecting your furniture for many years of enjoyment.<br />

Woven Vinyl Fabrics<br />
Woven Vinyl fabrics are made from Weather Weave, an open weave, vinyl-coated, polyester fiber fabric. Weather Weave is similar to the material<br />
used in tire cord, bonded so it will not unravel if cut. Especially designed for outdoor use, Weather Weave dries quickly and can be left out in any<br />
kind of weather. Ultraviolet stabilizers have been added to inhibit fading, deterioration and mildew. Weather Weave fabric cushions will provide<br />
many years of outdoor pleasure.<br />
Mix three gallons of warm water with one cup of household bleach and one cup mild laundry detergent. Apply with soft brush or cloth and rinse<br />
well. DO NOT USE SOLVENT-TYPE MATERIALS, THEY WILL DAMAGE THE YARNS.<br />
Woven Blend Fabrics<br />
Woven Blend is a blend of polyester and solution-dyed acrylic that has a soft hand and dries quickly when saturated with water. They are very<br />
useful as an umbrella fabric, and provide excellent sun blocking protection.<br />
Wash with a solution of soap or mild detergent and warm water. Sponge thoroughly with water and allow to air dry. For more stubborn stains, mix<br />
three gallons of warm water with one cup of household bleach and one cup of mild laundry detergent.. DO NOT USE SOLVENT-TYPE MATERIALS,<br />
THEY WILL DAMAGE THE YARNS.<br />

Acrylic Fabric is 100% solution dyed and provides a soft hand, having the look and feel of cotton. Acrylic fabrics are recommended for both indoor<br />
and outdoor use. Acrylics are the most durable outdoor fabrics because of their UV fastness and their ease of cleanup.<br />
Wash with a solution of soap or mild detergent and warm water. Sponge thoroughly with water and allow to air dry. For more stubborn stains, mix<br />

Aluminum Frames<br />
All <strong>Winston</strong> Furniture is created from non-rusting aluminum. Whether the frames are extruded (hollow tubes of aluminum formed and<br />
welded) or solid cast, you can rest assured that the quality of the raw material are of the highest grade and meet industry standards<br />
for commercial use. Heliarc welding processes are utilized which ensure the strongest welds possible for aluminum joints.<br />
Cast Aluminum<br />
<strong>Winston</strong>’s manufacturing facility includes an on-site aluminum foundry w<strong>here</strong> all cast aluminum components are created. This<br />
eliminates outside vendors who most other manufacturers rely upon for their cast furniture. <strong>Winston</strong> is able to closely monitor the<br />
quality of the castings and ensures that the aluminum used in the casting process is pure aluminum. An additional step in <strong>Winston</strong>’s<br />
casting process involves “out gassing” which removes gas bubbles in the melting process which if not removed will cause weak<br />
aluminum when the trapped bubbles cure in the poured aluminum molds. These bubbles would result in broken aluminum parts due<br />
to the porous casting. This is a step that many casting companies would eliminate.<br />
Alternative Tops<br />
<strong>Winston</strong> offers a multitude of table top options- Acrylic, Synthetic Stone, Fiberglass, Cast Aluminum and Copper. This investment<br />
of options is an important element of the product line. It offers many design opportunities so that the furniture installation can<br />
coordinate effectively with the environment.<br />
Umbrellas<br />
The umbrella offering incorporates many different sizes, shapes and fabric options in styles ranging from the traditional garden and<br />
market variety to the contemporary styles edgy shapes. <strong>Winston</strong> also offers bungalows and cabanas.<br />
Fabrics<br />
<strong>Winston</strong>’s fabric offering is among the most diverse in the industry. All fabrics are environmentally tested including specialized UV<br />
tests, all necessary to ensure that the fabrics will hold up to the elements for years of outdoor use. We select fabrics from the most<br />
recognized names in the outdoor fabric industry . The fabric selection ranges from vinyl coated polyester fabrics most suitable for<br />
sling products, to rich textures and colors made from acrylic fibers for cushions and umbrellas.<br />
Vinyl<br />
<strong>Winston</strong> continues to add to its offering of easy care, vinyl strap furniture in traditional and contemporary styles. The vinyl strap is 2”<br />
wide and contains mildew and UV inhibitors to help keep the vinyl looking fresh and clean. The strap is “virgin” vinyl which contains<br />
no foreign bonding agents which can cause deterioration of the strap and shorten its usefulness over time.<br />
Frame Finishes<br />
<strong>Winston</strong> offers two primary categories of frame finishes- Standard (including Casual Basics) and Premium. Standard finishes are a<br />
one-step application process w<strong>here</strong>as Premium Finishes are a multi-Step process. The Premium finishes involve hand-applied paint<br />
<strong>by</strong> skilled artists. But even before the finish is applied, <strong>Winston</strong> frames undergo an extensive 45 minute preparatory process that<br />
cleanses the frames in order to receive the final finish. (Please refer to page 97 in this <strong>catalog</strong> for a more involved analysis of <strong>Winston</strong><br />
superior paint finish process.)<br />

Fine outdoor furniture deserves exceptional care. <strong>Winston</strong> furniture can be enjoyed for many years when well maintained. Wash the furniture with a solution<br />
of mild detergent and water, rinse with clear water and dry thoroughly. A clear automobile wax can be applied to smooth frame finishes to provide better<br />
protection against harmful ultraviolet exposure and salt air. DO NOT use any kind of wax, abrasive materials or strong detergents on Select finishes.<br />
To vinyl, strap and sling seating surfaces, apply a quality vinyl protectant to guard against the effects of air pollution, salt air build-up, and mildew growth.<br />
Wash outdoor cushions with a solution of mild detergent and water and thoroughly rinse with clear water. Allow cushions to air dry completely.<br />
For best protection, perform this maintenance two to three times a year, although these durable materials can be safely cleaned as often as desired.<br />
Light stains can be removed with a solution of mild detergent and water, rinsed with clear water and dried thoroughly. Mildew and heavy stains can be<br />
removed with a quality commercial outdoor furniture cleaner and protectant.<br />
Note: Some suntan and sun block products may be harmful to cushions, sling and vinyl and straps. Do not allow such products to come in contact with<br />
any seating surfaces to avoid deep penetrating stains, which are not covered under warranty.<br />
Do not steam or use water at temperatures above 100°F when washing.<br />
Note: Be careful to keep the cleaner from contact with the cushions of your <strong>Winston</strong> furniture, as it will cause discoloration. Do not use bleach on printed<br />
acrylic fabrics. Do not use solvent-type materials on woven vinyl, woven blend or ultra woven blend fabrics as they will damage the yarns. Do not use<br />
chlorine based cleaners.<br />

Umbrella Warranty<br />
Fabric umbrellas are constructed from the finest commercial material. Due to severe weather to which umbrellas may be subjected, <strong>Winston</strong> Contract<br />
warranty does not apply.<br />
FiberBuilt Umbrellas warrants its fiberglass umbrella ribs to be free from defects in material and workmanship under normal conditions for a period of<br />
three years from the date of original purchase.<br />
