TIMINGS<br />

Please note that our trains operate within <strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>straints of <strong>the</strong> rail network <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

c<strong>on</strong>firmed departure <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> arrival timings may not be given to us until four <str<strong>on</strong>g>day</str<strong>on</strong>g>s prior to<br />

departure. All timings shown in this brochure are for guidance <strong>on</strong>ly <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> c<strong>on</strong>firmed<br />

timings, toge<strong>the</strong>r with your itinerary, will be sent with your travel documents <strong>on</strong>ce <strong>the</strong>se<br />

timings are received. Please arrive 20 minutes before departure time.<br />

STEAM DEPARTURES<br />

Where steam is advertised, every effort will be made to operate using steam tracti<strong>on</strong> for<br />

all or part of <strong>the</strong> journey. It is possible that diesel or electric tracti<strong>on</strong> may have to be<br />

substituted at short notice. In this event a refund of <strong>the</strong> difference between <strong>the</strong> fare for<br />

steam tracti<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> fare for c<strong>on</strong>venti<strong>on</strong>al tracti<strong>on</strong> (if any) may be payable.<br />

WARDROBE NOTES<br />

Smart casual wear (but not jeans or trainers) is <strong>the</strong> order of <strong>the</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>day</str<strong>on</strong>g>. For Pullman dinner<br />

departures more formal wear is customary. A jacket <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> a tie for men is required at Ascot<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> Ebor. For outdoor events such as Cowes, please wear practical clothing.<br />

MEALS<br />

Your fare includes table d’hôte meals <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> journey. Menus are liable to seas<strong>on</strong>al<br />

change. If you have any special dietary requirements, make sure to advise when booking<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> we will do our best to comply. We are, however, unable to provide meals requiring<br />

strict religious observance in <strong>the</strong> preparati<strong>on</strong>.<br />

SMOKING<br />

With apologies to smokers, <strong>Orient</strong>-<strong>Express</strong> operates a no smoking policy aboard its<br />

UK trains.<br />

MOBILE PHONES<br />

Out of c<strong>on</strong>siderati<strong>on</strong> for your fellow passengers, please turn off mobile ph<strong>on</strong>es whilst in<br />

your carriage.<br />

GIFT CERTIFICATES<br />

If you’re seeking a very acceptable present for a special occasi<strong>on</strong>, look no fur<strong>the</strong>r.<br />

DISABLED PASSENGERS<br />

We regret that our carriages cannot be boarded in wheelchairs. However, our staff are<br />

available to assist any passengers to <strong>the</strong>ir seats <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> folding wheelchairs can be stored in<br />

<strong>the</strong> vestibules. Some excursi<strong>on</strong>s are more suitable for disabled travellers than o<strong>the</strong>rs.<br />

Claims for Pers<strong>on</strong>al Baggage This insurance does not provide cover <strong>on</strong> a ‘new for old’<br />

basis, which means that deducti<strong>on</strong>s for age, wear <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> tear will be made where<br />

appropriate.<br />

Sums Insured or Limits All secti<strong>on</strong>s of <strong>the</strong> insurance have a limit <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> amount <strong>the</strong><br />

Insurer will pay.<br />

Some secti<strong>on</strong>s have internal limits such as <strong>the</strong> amount <strong>the</strong> Insurer will pay for any <strong>on</strong>e<br />

item or <strong>the</strong> total amount for all valuables.<br />

Excesses Under most secti<strong>on</strong>s of <strong>the</strong> insurance, claims will be subject to an excess of<br />

£50. This means you will be resp<strong>on</strong>sible for paying part of <strong>the</strong> claim.<br />

Reas<strong>on</strong>able Care You are required to take all reas<strong>on</strong>able care of yourself <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> your<br />

property <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> to act at all times as though you are not insured.<br />

Complaints The insurance c<strong>on</strong>tains a procedure which you should follow if you wish to<br />

make a complaint.<br />

Jurisdicti<strong>on</strong> The insurance will be subject to English law unless o<strong>the</strong>rwise agreed.<br />

‘Cooling Off Period’ If <strong>the</strong> insurance does not meet your requirements you may return<br />

<strong>the</strong> documentati<strong>on</strong> within 14 <str<strong>on</strong>g>day</str<strong>on</strong>g>s of purchase or prior to travel if this is so<strong>on</strong>er <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

provided no claim has been made to obtain a refund.<br />
