Verses Compared With The King James
Bible, Catholic Bible & Holman Version
The Reformation bibles were based on the traditional texts; modern versions are
based on the Catholic texts of Vaticanus. They are clearly "Catholic" bible versions.
Translations produced by the United Bible Societies are “interconfessional,” meaning
they have Roman Catholic participation and backing.”
The UBS (United Bible Society) Greek texts are the basis for all these new versions The
Catholics and Evangelicals are united in producing these text. One of the 5 chief editors
is the New Age Catholic Cardinal Carlos Martini, who believes God is in all men and in
all religions. These are the "bibles" most modern Christians are using.
Modern versions and Jehovah Witness NWT are Catholic bibles, not Reformation bibles.
Below is more than 1oo verses showing that the Holman version is like the Douay-
Rheims Bible. This is is a translation of the Bible from the Latin Vulgate into English made by
members of the English College, Douai, in the service of the Catholic Church that the Catholics
The Holman Christian Standard Bible Exposed!
By Dr. Ken Matto
In the history of faithless translations, the new Holman Christian
Standard Bible stands as the latest addition to the line of corrupted
translations. In the introduction to this version, they plainly state that
they use the Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia, fifth edition for the
Hebrew and the Nestle Aland Text, 27th edition and the United Bible
Societies 4th corrected edition for the Greek. Right at the outset we
see that this entire version is under girded by three corrupted
manuscripts. As you will see in this comparison of fifty verses, that
the Holman Christian Standard Bible is anything but a standard. It will
agree wholeheartedly with the other false versions plus the New
American Bible of the Roman Catholic Institution and the New World
Translation of the Jehovah’s Witnesses which you will see in this
comparison. Any Christian who uses this book as their version of
choice will be using a cursed book because God does not bless the
corruption of His word and no Christian will ever grow in the faith
using a false version. Once again you will see how superior the King
James Bible is over all these false translations. The King James verse
will come first with underlining of the part of the verse which has
been tampered with.
(KJB) - King James Bible
(HCSB) - Holman Christian Standard Bible
(NAB) - New American Bible of the Roman Catholic Institution
(NWT) - New World Translation of the Jehovah’s Witnesses
Matthew 5:22
(KJB) But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother
without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever
shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but
whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
(HCSB) But I tell you, everyone who is angry with his brother will be
subject to judgment. And whoever says to his brother, 'Fool!' will be
subject to the Sanhedrin. But whoever says, 'You moron!' will be
subject to hellfire.
(NAB) What I say to you is: everyone who grows angry with his brother
shall be liable to judgment; any man who uses abusive language
toward his brother shall be answerable to the Sanhedrin, and if he
holds him in contempt he risks the fires of Gehenna.

(NWT) However, I say to YOU that everyone who continues wrathful
with his brother will be accountable to the court of justice; but
whoever addresses his brother with an unspeakable word of contempt
will be accountable to the Supreme Court; whereas whoever says, „You
despicable fool!‟ will be liable to the fiery Gehenna.
Matthew 19:9
(KJV) And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it
be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and
whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.
(HCSB) And I tell you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual
immorality, and marries another, commits adultery.”
(NAB) I now to say to you, whoever divorces his wife (lewd conduct is
a separate case) and marries another commits adultery, and the man
who marries a divorced woman commits adultery."
(NWT) I say to you that whoever divorces his wife, except on the
ground of fornication, and marries another commits adultery."
Matthew 20:16
(KJB) So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called,
but few chosen.
(HCSB) "So the last will be first, and the first last."
(NAB) Thus the last shall be first and the first shall be last”
(NWT) In this way the last ones will be first, and the first ones last.”
Mark 6:11
(KJB) And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye
depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony
against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for
Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.
(HCSB) If any place does not welcome you and people refuse to listen
to you, when you leave there, shake the dust off your feet as a
testimony against them.”
(NAB) If any place will not receive you or hear you, shake its dust
from your feet in testimony against them as you leave.
(NWT) And wherever a place will not receive you nor hear you, on
going out from there shake off the dirt that is beneath your feet for a
witness to them"

Mark 7:8
(KJB) For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition
of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like
things ye do.
(HCSB) Disregarding the command of God, you keep the tradition of
men."
(NAB) You disregard God's commandments and cling to what is human
tradition."
(NWT) Letting go the commandment of God, YOU hold fast the
tradition of men."
Luke 2:33
(KJB) And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which
were spoken of him.
(HCSB) His father and mother were amazed at what was being said
about Him.
(NAB) The child‟s father and mother were marvelling as what was
being said about him
(NWT) And its father and mother continued wondering at the things
being spoken about it
Luke 9:55-56
(KJB) But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what
manner of spirit ye are of. (56) or the Son of man is not come to
destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another
village.
(HCSB) But He turned and rebuked them, (56) and they went to
another village.
(NAB) He turned toward them to only reprimand them {56} Then they
set off for another town
(NWT) But he turned and rebuked them {56} So they went to a
different village
John 9:4
(KJB) I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the
night cometh, when no man can work.
(HCSB) We must do the works of Him who sent Me while it is day.
Night is coming when no one can work.

(NAB) We must do the deeds of him who sent me while it is day. The
night comes on when no one can work.
(NWT) We must work the works of him that sent me while it is day; the
night is coming when no man can work.
John 11:41
(KJB) Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead
was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee
that thou hast heard me.
(HCSB) So they removed the stone. Then Jesus raised His eyes and
said, "Father, I thank You that You heard Me.
(NAB) Then they took away the stone and Jesus looked upward and
said: “Father I thank you for having heard me.
(NWT) Therefore they took the stone away. Now Jesus raised his eyes
heavenward and said: “Father, I thank you that you have heard me.
Acts 2:30
(KJB) Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn
with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the
flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
(HCSB) Since he was a prophet, he knew that God had sworn an oath
to him to seat one of his descendants on his throne.
(NAB) He was a prophet and knew that God had sworn to him that one
of his descendants would sit upon his throne.
(NWT) Therefore, because he was a prophet and knew that God had
sworn to him with an oath that he would seat one from the fruitage of
his loins upon his throne.
Acts 24:15
(KJB) And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow,
that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and
unjust.
(HCSB) And I have a hope in God, which these men themselves also
accept, that there is going to be a resurrection, both of the righteous
and the unrighteous.
(NAB) And I have the same hope in God as these men have that there
is to be a resurrection of the good and the wicked alike.
(NWT) and I have hope toward God, which hope these [men]
themselves also entertain, that there is going to be a resurrection of

oth the righteous and the unrighteous.
Romans 8:1
no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace:
otherwise work is no more work.
(HCSB) - Now if by grace, then it is not by works; otherwise grace
ceases to be grace.
(NAB) But if the choice is by grace, it is not because of their worksotherwise
grace would not be grace
(NWT) Now if it is by undeserved kindness, it is no longer due to
works; otherwise, the undeserved kindness no longer proves to be
undeserved kindness.
you are unleavened. For Christ our Passover has been sacrificed.
(NAB) Get rid of the old yeast to make of yourselves fresh dough,
unleavened loaves, as it were; Christ our Passover has been sacrificed
(NWT) Clear away the old leaven, that YOU may be a new lump,
according as YOU are free from ferment. For, indeed, Christ our
Passover has been sacrificed.
1 Corinthians 7:39
depraved and deprived of the truth, who imagine that godliness is a
way to material gain.
(NAB) in a word, the bickering of men with twisted minds who have
lost all sense of truth. Such men value religion only as a means of
personal gain.
(NWT) violent disputes about trifles on the part of men corrupted in
mind despoiled of the truth, thinking that godly devotion is a means
of gain.
from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.
(NAB) Paul to Titus, my own true child in our common faith: May
grace and peace from God our Father, and Christ Jesus our Savior, be
with you
(NWT) to Titus, a genuine child according to a faith shared in
common: May there be undeserved kindness and peace from God [the]
Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.
Philemon 6
(KJB) That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by
the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ
Jesus.
(HCSB) I pray that your participation in the faith may become effective
through knowing every good thing that is in us for the glory of Christ.
(NAB) And my prayer is that your sharing of the faith with others may
enable you to know all the good which is ours in Christ.
(NWT) in order that the sharing of your faith may go into action by
your acknowledging of every good thing among us as related to
Christ.
Philemon 12
(NAB) It is he I am sending back to you-and that means I am sending
my heart!
(KJB) Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of
his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when
he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the
Majesty on high;
(HCSB) He is the radiance of His glory, the exact expression of His
nature, and He sustains all things by His powerful word. After making
purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on
high.
(NAB) This Son is the reflection of the Father‟s glory, the exact

epresentation of the Father‟s being, and he sustains all things by his
powerful word. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he took his
seat at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven,
(NWT) He is the reflection of [his] glory and the exact representation
of his very being, and he sustains all things by the word of his power;
and after he had made a purification for our sins he sat down on the
right hand of the Majesty in lofty places.
Hebrews 10:30
(KJB) For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I
will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his
people.
(HCSB) For we know the One who has said, Vengeance belongs to Me, I
will repay, and again, The Lord will judge His people.
(NAB) We know who said, “Vengeance is mine; I will repay,” and “The
Lord will judge his people.”
(NWT) For we know him that said: “Vengeance is mine; I will
recompense”; and again: “Jehovah will judge his people.”
James 5:16
(KJB) Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another,
that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man
availeth much.
(HCSB) Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one
another, so that you may be healed. The intense prayer of the
righteous is very powerful.
(NAB) Hence, declare your sins to one another, and pray for one
another, that you may find healing. The fervent petition of a holy man
is powerful indeed.
(NWT) Therefore openly confess YOUR sins to one another and pray
for one another that YOU may get healed. A righteous man‟s
supplication, when it is at work, has much force.
1 Peter 1:22
(KJB) Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through
the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one
another with a pure heart fervently:
(HCSB) By obedience to the truth, having purified yourselves for
sincere love of the brothers, love one another earnestly from a pure

heart,
(NAB) By obedience to the truth you have purified yourselves for a
genuine love of your brothers; therefore, love one another constantly
from the heart.
(NWT) Now that YOU have purified YOUR souls by [YOUR] obedience
to the truth with unhypocritical brotherly love as the result, love one
another intensely from the heart.
1 Peter 4:14
(KJB) If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the
spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil
spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
(HCSB) If you are ridiculed for the name of Christ, you are blessed,
because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.
(NAB) Happy are you when you are insulted for the sake of Christ, for
then God‟s Spirit in its glory has come to rest on you.
(NWT) If YOU are being reproached for the name of Christ, YOU are
happy, because the [spirit] of glory, even the spirit of God, is resting
upon YOU.
2 Peter 2:17
(KJB) These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a
tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.
(HCSB) These people are springs without water, mists driven by a
whirlwind. The gloom of darkness has been reserved for them.
(NAB) These men are waterless springs, mists whipped by the gale.
The darkest gloom has been reserved for them.
(NWT) These are fountains without water, and mists driven by a
violent storm, and for them the blackness of darkness has been
reserved.
2 Peter 3:9
(KJB) The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men
count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any
should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
(HCSB) The Lord does not delay His promise, as some understand
delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish, but all to
come to repentance.
(NAB) The Lord does not delay in keeping his promise-though some

consider it “delay.” Rather, he shows your generous patience, since he
wants none to perish but all to come to repentance.
(NWT) Jehovah is not slow respecting his promise, as some people
consider slowness, but he is patient with YOU because he does not
desire any to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentance.
1 John 4:3
(KJB) And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in
the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye
have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the
world.
(HCSB) But every spirit who does not confess Jesus is not from God.
This is the spirit of the antichrist; you have heard that he is coming,
and he is already in the world now.
(NAB) while every spirit that fails to acknowledge him does not belong
to God. Such is the spirit of the antichrist which, as you have heard, is
to come; in fact, it is in the world already.
(NWT) but every inspired expression that does not confess Jesus does
not originate with God. Furthermore, this is the antichrist‟s [inspired
expression] which YOU have heard was coming, and now it is already
in the world.
1 John 5:13
(KJB) These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of
the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that
ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
(HCSB) I have written these things to you who believe in the name of
the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.
(NAB) I have written this to you to make you realize that you possess
eternal life-you who believe in the name of the Son of God.
(NWT) I write you these things that you may know that you have life
everlasting, you who put your faith in the name of the Son of God
2 John 9
(KJB) Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of
Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he
hath both the Father and the Son.
(HCSB) Anyone who does not remain in the teaching about Christ, but
goes beyond it, does not have God. The one who remains in that

teaching, this one has both the Father and the Son.
(NAB) Anyone who is so “progressive” that he does not remain rooted
in the teaching of Christ does not possess God, while anyone who
remains rooted in the teaching possesses both the Father and the Son.
(NWT) Everyone that pushes ahead and does not remain in the
teaching of the Christ does not have God. He that does not remain in
this teaching is the one that has both the Father and the Son.
Jude 14
(KJB) And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these,
saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
(HCSB) And Enoch, in the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied
about them: Look! The Lord comes with thousands of His holy ones
(NAB) It was about these that Enoch, who was of the seventh
generation descended from Adam, prophesied when he said, “See the
Lord has come with his countless holy ones about him.
(NWT) Yes, the seventh one [in line] from Adam, E‟noch, prophesied
also regarding them, when he said: Look! Jehovah came with his holy
myriads,
Jude 25
(KJB) To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty,
dominion and power, both now and for ever. Amen.
(HCSB) to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be
glory, majesty, power, and authority before all time, now, and forever.
Amen.
(NAB) Glory be to this only God our savior, through Jesus Christ our
Lord. Majesty, too, be his, might and power from ages past, now and
for ages to come. Amen.
(NWT) to [the] only God our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord, be
glory, majesty, might, and authority for all past eternity and now and
into all eternity. Amen.
Revelation 5:14
(KJB) And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders
fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.
(HCSB) The four living creatures said, "Amen," and the elders fell
down and worshiped.
(NAB) The four living creatures answered, "Amen," and the elders fell

down and worshiped.
(NWT) And the four living creatures went saying: "Amen!" and the
older persons fell down and worshiped.
Revelation 8:13
(KJB) And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of
heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of
the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three
angels, which are yet to sound!
(HCSB) I looked, and I heard an eagle, flying in mid-heaven, saying in
a loud voice, "Woe! Woe! Woe to those who live on the earth, because
of the remaining trumpet blasts that the three angels are about to
sound!"
(NAB) As my vision continued, I heard an eagle flying in midlevel cry
out in a loud voice, “Woe, woe, and again woe to the inhabitants of
earth from the trumpet blasts the other three angels are about to
blow!”
(NWT) And I saw, and I heard an eagle flying in midheaven say with a
loud voice: “Woe, woe, woe to those dwelling on the earth because of
the rest of the trumpet blasts of the three angels who are about to
blow their trumpets!”
Revelation 21:24
(KJB) And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light
of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into
it.
(HCSB) The nations will walk in its light, and the kings of the earth
will bring their glory into it.
(NAB) The four living creatures answered, "Amen," and the elders fell
down and worshiped.
(NWT) And the nations will walk by means of its light, and the kings
of the earth will bring their glory into it.
These fifty verses are just the tip of the iceberg concerning the
corruption found in this latest per-version. You can take the King
James Bible and compare the Holman Standard Christian Bible to it
and you will see that it is just another massively corrupt version
which totally agrees with the Roman Catholic and Jehovah„s Witnesses
versions. The footnotes in this version cast complete doubt on the
authenticity of many passages which parallels the New King James

version in doubt casting. With all these foot notes stating that certain
verses do not appear in other manuscripts will only send much
confusion into the life of a Christian and will cast doubt as to if we
have the word of God today. THIS IS SATAN‟S STRATEGY! (Gen 3:1 KJV)
Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the
LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God
said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden
The following verses have been bracketed and/or footnoted in the
HCSB as being omitted in the corrupted Greek texts. They are omitted
in the modern versions but the HCSB keeps them in but footnotes and
brackets them casting doubt on their authenticity.
Summary
As you have plainly seen the Holman Christian Standard Bible is
nothing new. It is just another rewrite of the Gnostic Scriptures which
were corrupted in Alexandria, Egypt in the second century and
transmitted through the ages by the Roman Catholic Institution. The
HCSB also agrees with the Jehovah’s Witness Bible which means you

can‟t get anymore corrupt than that. Why would any Christian want to
use a Bible which the Jehovah‟s Witnesses use If you are a true
Christian, then God does not want you to use anything which is
corrupt, no matter who endorses it. Well, as we have seen the major
differences in the four translations offered, we can safely conclude
that God endorses the King James Bible because of its purity and that
is the only endorsement you can trust.
The King James Bible is the only Bible which glorifies the Lord Jesus
Christ instead of attacking Him and the doctrines which are
untouched in the KJB. At the time of this writing, I have been a
Christian since January 1981 and have used the corrupted versions
but was oblivious to their corruption. God brought me to the truth in
1986 and I have never had the least desire to change from my King
James Bible, simply because, it, being the real word of God, has
brought stability into my Christian walk. Every new version is written
differently which means Christians will never find stability in their
understanding of Scripture. I pity the poor Christian who uses ten
versions of these false bibles and tries to come to understanding of
the Scriptures. I can say beyond the shadow of a doubt, that all you
need is the King James Bible and when you adopt that as your only
Bible, the Holy Spirit will begin to open up your understanding,
simply because He cannot bless corruption, and neither should we.
verses without written permission. According to the Copyright office
in Washington, D.C., you cannot copyright God‟s word but you can
copyright man‟s word. HINT! HINT!
After reading the comparisons, there are only two summaries which
can be arrived at:
1) The HCSB is as corrupt as the NWT
2) The NWT is as accurate as the HCSB
Here is a Catholic Forum that was talking about The Holman version of the
This Catholic believer says that the Holman is pretty much in-line with their
