Patchwork & Nine-Patch Afghan Patterns

Patchwork Squares
These five 7” squares can be mixed and matched to create a patchwork afghan.
Since the same quick & easy stitch is used for all the squares, the resulting afghan
has an overall consistency seldom found in patchwork afghans. These squares are
great for exchanges and the size is easily adjusted by changing the number of rows.
Floating Squares
Use one or any combination of these four 7” squares to create an afghan in which
the contrasting squares seem to float on the background. Or combine them with the
patchwork squares to make a patchwork afghan. These too make good exchange
squares.

Bordered Nine Patch Afghan Blocks
These blocks are comprised of nine crocheted squares sewn together and bordered
to form a 12” block…the perfect size for pillow-ghans! Unbordered, the blocks are
10” square. Choose one of the 35 design layouts below (or design your own!) to
complete your afghan.
