HOST AN INTERNATIONAL

PARTICIPANT!

Young adults visiting Beaverton from abroad

to participate in the ISL Project will need

home stays with welcoming Beaverton

families. Sharing your home and family life

for three weeks with a young adult from one

of Beaverton’s sister cities will energize

everyone in your family and create a

positive, meaningful experience that will

endure long after your guest has returned

home. As a host family, you will enrich the

lives of your family by gaining insight into

another culture, possibly learning another

language, as well as by building new, lasting

friendships. You will also have a direct

impact on youth career and academic

development, as well as on our community’s

efforts to promote environmental

sustainability at a global level.

Promoting sustainable cities through tomorrow’s leaders

July 18 - August 5, 2011

The ISL Project will unite a total of 60 representatives, ages 18-24, from

Beaverton and its international sister cities to cooperatively explore some of

the most important sustainability issues of the day through workshops, tours

and interactive discussions on renewable energy & energy conservation,

transportation, building, waste management, food systems, and water

management & conservation.

A Host Family Orientation Meeting and Public Information Session is planned for Monday, March 14 at

5:30pm in the 1 st Floor Conference Room of Beaverton City Hall. At least one member from each

interested family is strongly encouraged to attend.
