Th history of printing technology with wooden fonts
has proof of evolution in the sixth century in China. In
the Ming dynasty era, printing on surfaces like wood,
copper and glass was experimented with the help of
clay.

printing technology has crossed through several steps
from printing machine, using vapour energy to
linotype, monotype, offset, lithogrpahy, electronic film
setter, rotary to the current technology.

LOKSATTA’ is because of the senior Art Director of The
Indian Express Group, Mr. Jain Kamal .
After doing the post-graduation in advertising from the
Benaras Hindu University, he has designed his own
fonts and also designed many English and regional
language newspapers as well as periodicals. In the era
of the internet and the modem, making newspapers
more attractive is not only necessary but also an art
itself. The newspapers are in competition with today’s
television. According to Mr. Jain, “Newspapers are like
‘Khadi’, clean, natural and pure and reading a habit.”
In conclusion, reading is a cultured habit. “Sanj
Loksatta” in the new modern form is ready to carry on
its responsibility of spreading the democratic, strong
and objective ideas to its readers.
