This new series from the BBC recounts
comedian Michael Palin’s unforgettable
six-month epic journey across the
Himalaya mountain range, covering
an amazingly diverse array of cultures
and environments in various countries,
including Pakistan, India, Nepal, Tibet,
China, Bhutan, and Bangladesh. He
travels through the North West Frontier
province of Pakistan, starting on the
Khyber Pass and ending five miles from
K2 on the Pakistan/China border. He
visits a street dentist in Peshwar, goes
bull racing with a Pakistani aristocrat,
and is almost trampled to death. Along
the way, he encounters the Dalai Lama,
Gyanendra (the former King of Nepal),
Maoist rebels, and much more.
