Major in Mathematics<br />

The curriculum in mathematics is designed to provide for the student an important part of a broad liberal<br />

education along with equipping the student with the essentials for a continuing career in mathematics.<br />

Students majoring in mathematics must complete all of the following courses in addition to courses in one of the<br />

tracks that follow. They must also complete PHYS 2413 and 2423. Students who do not maintain a 2.75 GPA in<br />

the major after completing the 12 hours in mathematics required for a degree will be counseled by their advisor<br />

as to whether this major is appropriate for their academic strength area.<br />

Departmental honors are available in Mathematics.<br />
