Welcome to Lisburn
Enjoy
Lisburn,
where
business is
always a
pleasure
A vibrant and rapidly growing City, Lisburn also
enjoys some of Ireland’s most beautiful countryside.
With a range of outstanding venues offering
state-of-the-art facilities, Lisburn is an ideal
conference location.
When it’s time to relax you can unwind with tours
through our delightful Historic Quarter or absorb our
enthralling heritage at an atmospheric castle, fort,
historic houses and museums. There are so many
ways to enjoy the beautiful scenery at our doorstep
too. Choose from teeing off at some of Northern
Ireland’s finest golf courses or world-class angling,
walking, cycling and horse riding. As the evening
gathers pace, there’s live music, activities and
exhibitions at the Island Arts Centre, the latest in
cinema, dance music at chic bars or welcoming
traditional pubs.
Whatever your taste in food, you’ll find wonderful
meals at restaurants that cover the globe, from the
flavours of Asia to mouthwatering Italian cuisine,
as well as award-winning gastro pubs in charming
villages and enticing menus at a host of wonderful
cafés. Shopping is a joy, from the latest in designer
label fashion at the elegant Bow Street Mall to the
giants of retail at Sprucefield, colourful traditional
markets in lovely Lisburn Square to antique and
crafts shops in historic villages.
So easy to get to and around, Lisburn is just off the
main Dublin to Belfast route and only a short drive
from two international airports.

4
Mix business
with pleasure
There’s so
much to see
and do in
Lisburn
When you’ve time to take out from your busy
schedule, from an hour to a day, you’ll find so many
ways to refresh the spirit. Come and explore our
fascinating heritage on a self-guided trail around
our atmospheric Historic Quarter, and learn about
the famous Irish linen industry. Many beautiful
buildings remain from this golden age, not least the
17th century market house where cottage weavers
once brought their wares to sell and which today
houses the Irish Linen Centre and Lisburn Museum.
See those skills recreated as you experience the
enthralling story of Irish linen.

You can savour the taste of traditional Ulster food, see
some rare breed animals and re-live the traditional age of
farming at Brookhall Historical Farm, while the awardwinning
Ballance House, the childhood home of 19th
century New Zealand prime minister John Ballance, is an
exquisite recreation of an early Victorian house.
Step back to another age in our gloriously unspoilt
villages. Enjoy the famous floral delights of Georgian
Moira with its beautiful demesne and the elegant 18th
century village of Hillsborough. Tour in the footsteps of
royalty and famous politicians at Hillsborough Castle, and
relax in its delightful
rose garden and
riverside paths.
Nearby, our medieval
past lives on at
Hillsborough Fort, near
to the lovely
Hillsborough Forest.
Further afield, you can
discover an even more
ancient history at the
unique Stone Age
Giant’s Ring, or stroll
through beautiful Colin
Glen Forest Park,
whose tranquil wooded
glens are brimming
with wildlife.

6
Shopping heaven
You’ll find
something to
delight every
Superb shops in one stunning location in the heart of
the City, that’s the recipe for success at the elegant
set around a square of elegant Georgian and
Victorian buildings, hosts some of the finest retail
names in the UK and Ireland, as well as traditional
markets each Tuesday and Saturday.
With cosmopolitan cafés and delightful restaurants at
every turn, Lisburn has all the big High Street names
and many fascinating local shops too, while just
outside the City, you can find the biggest names in
retail at Sprucefield Shopping Centre and
Sprucefield Park.
Take a break from your conference and spend a day
or two exploring the fascinating shops in our
beautiful historic villages, stopping off at charming
cafés and award-winning gastro pubs. Choose from
a range of sublime Irish crafts, from ceramics to Celtic
jewellery, and search for the treasures of our past at
atmospheric antique shops, including Northern
Ireland’s largest in the village of Ballinderry.
And what could be more relaxing than a stroll around
the Georgian charms of Hillsborough before
