On behalf of Remy Millott, our Managing Director,<br />
<strong>and</strong> the rest of the management team, I am proud to<br />
present the souvenir brochure from the Twentieth<br />
Annual <strong>Pinmar</strong> Yachtsman’s Golf Tournament.<br />
We wanted to make our twentieth <strong>tournament</strong> as<br />
special as we could <strong>and</strong>, thanks to all our players,<br />
sponsors, volunteers <strong>and</strong> guests, <strong>and</strong> especially Awlgrip<br />
our co-sponsor, we hope we managed to do so.<br />
Thanks to the great generosity of all who took part<br />
we also managed to raise a new record total of €uros<br />
55,000 for our various charities. On page 105 you can<br />
see where the money went.<br />
We also wanted to ring the changes for our twentieth<br />
so, after 5 great years at Son Antem we played the<br />
Son Quint course for the first time which we hope<br />
everyone enjoyed as much as we did <strong>and</strong> we look<br />
forward to going back there this year.<br />
We want to make some changes this year, too, so we<br />
are going back to the Casino for the Prizegiving Dinner.<br />
They have a new show – Come Fly With Me (see page<br />
109 for details). The show is presented by the same<br />
team who put on the very successful Pirates Show<br />
whom I also wish to thank for very kindly lending<br />
us Ritchie Prior to act as MC <strong>and</strong> Aron Garner who<br />
helped him to raise a great total in the auction.<br />
We had 5 very enjoyable years at Es Foguero so our<br />
thanks to them <strong>and</strong> to Rybovich who sponsored the<br />
outside party after the dinner enabling us to go out<br />
with a bang!<br />
We were very happy that Alan Tookey (who flew in<br />
from Florida) <strong>and</strong> John Winterbotham – two members<br />
of the team that won the very first <strong>tournament</strong> way<br />
back in 1989 – were able to join us. We were also<br />
very glad to be able to make presentations to Fabrice<br />
Pouzet des Iles <strong>and</strong> Tony Insull who are the only two<br />
people who have played in all 20 <strong>tournament</strong>s. We<br />
have also marked our 20 year anniversary with a<br />
selection of photos taken over the years which are<br />
accompanied by a potted (or should that just be<br />
potty) history of the event kindly written by John<br />
Rule (bon viveur <strong>and</strong> all-round bon oeuf) which<br />
unsurprisingly concentrates on the more humorous<br />
side of things.<br />
Sadly, 2008 was the year we lost Ashleigh Mitchell (see<br />
page 107) a regular player over many years.<br />
I will always remember Ash as the good friend who<br />
kindly drove me around during the 2002 <strong>tournament</strong><br />
which I foolishly opted to organize from a wheelchair.<br />
Once again the Compass Design team have put a<br />
huge amount of work into this brochure which is<br />
only possible thanks to our many advertisers <strong>and</strong> our<br />
volunteer photographers Maria “Toni” Dominguez,<br />
Simon Williams <strong>and</strong> Oliver Neilson.<br />
Thank you all very much for your participation,<br />
generosity <strong>and</strong> support – we look forward to seeing<br />

organizing committee, <strong>and</strong> all <strong>Pinmar</strong><br />
Charity donors from the yachting<br />
industry, our OK Prosthetics team visits<br />
Angola <strong>and</strong> Namibia this year to fit<br />
l<strong>and</strong>-mine victim amputees in selected<br />
communities. This generous donation<br />
enables the fitting of up to thirty<br />
amputees - disabled through the byproducts<br />
of destructive war in this region<br />
of past conflict.<br />
The innovative methods <strong>and</strong> techniques<br />
applied by OK Prosthetics allow a belowknee<br />
amputee to be fitted in less than<br />
an hour. Practicing this application in<br />
village clinics, or out in the bush, in Africa<br />
<strong>and</strong> other out-of-the-way regions of the<br />
world, our team brings a comfortable,<br />
quick, <strong>and</strong> sustainable solution to<br />
unfortunate victims who would not<br />
normally have this possibility to walk<br />
again.<br />
