FSA’s new BB30 bottom bracket and crankset<br />
system makes perfect sense, especially for<br />
mountain bikes. It’s lighter than current<br />
external-type BB systems since the bearings<br />
are pressed directly into the frame, eliminating<br />
the cups, and stiff er too, thanks to the massive<br />
30mm diameter aluminum spindle. Bearing<br />
life is increased due to the larger diameter<br />
BB shell and the fact that the bearings are<br />
back inside the shell, well protected from the<br />
elements. Dakota Elite comes spec’ed with a<br />
complete BB30 set-up. Dakota Comp off ers a<br />
BB30 shell with an adaptor for the standard<br />
threaded Shimano crankset, so when you’re<br />
ready to drop weight and increase stiff ness by<br />
upgrading to BB30, your bike is ready to go.<br />
