The National School Choral Awards<br />

The national school choral awards are given each year to members of the cape cod academy chorale who have<br />

shown outstanding musical talent and effort in choral singing.<br />

This year's recipients are Ben Taylor and Tatiana Chiu


The Musical Theatre Award<br />

The music department presents an award to the senior who has participated with distinction in the school's<br />

musical theatre productions. This year’s recipient is Zach Parella<br />

Orchestra Award<br />

The music department presents an award to the senior who has participated with distinction in the school's<br />

instrumental ensemble. This year’s recipient is Elena Chen<br />

Student Council Recognition<br />

We would like to recognize the student council leaders for the past school year.<br />

Vice president this year was Max Choate<br />

We are pleased to announce that next year's student council president is Max Choate and the vice-president is<br />

Jordan Gustafson<br />

Academic Excellence Award<br />

The prize for academic excellence acknowledges the student in grades 7 through 11 who demonstrates superior<br />

academic achievement and who, just as importantly, is a person of warmth, understanding, and determination.<br />

This is our way of drawing a real distinction between being smart and using our intelligence wisely.<br />

The academic achievement award is given to Molly Murphy<br />

The Heart Award<br />

Established by Nick Accrocco, class of 2000, the heart award recognizes the outstanding individual who has<br />

exhibited excellence in the three components of school, community, and friends & family. The outstanding<br />

quality in school is effort. In the community it is expressed as a passion for a better world. Among friends and<br />

family, it is kindness and perseverance. The recipient this year is Cam White.<br />

The Roy J. Harper Memorial Scholarship<br />

The Roy J. Harper memorial scholarship was established by Douglas and Cathy Harper, parents of Doug, Jr.,<br />

<strong>Cape</strong> <strong>Cod</strong> <strong>Academy</strong> Class of 1992. Established in the memory of Roy J. Harper, grandfather of Doug, Jr., it is<br />

a funded college scholarship. It recognizes the member of the graduating class who, in the judgment of the<br />

faculty, has shown the greatest growth in scholarship, coupled with qualities of honesty, compassion, and<br />

respect. This year’s recipient is Paul Presbry.<br />

Parents Association Prizes<br />

The parents association prizes - two this year - are awarded to seniors who, in the judgment of the upper school<br />

faculty, have contributed unselfishly to the growth and well-being of the school during the course of their years<br />

<strong>here</strong>. This year’s recipients are Whit Buckley and Elizabeth Worrilow


The Spirit of <strong>Cape</strong> <strong>Cod</strong> <strong>Academy</strong> in Athletics Award<br />

The Spirit of <strong>Cape</strong> <strong>Cod</strong> <strong>Academy</strong> in Athletics Award goes to those athletes whose individual effort,<br />

coordinated through teamwork and tempered by sportsmanship, result in a whole whose sum is far greater<br />

than its individual parts. The winners have contributed most meaningfully to the substance and spirit of our<br />

athletic endeavors.<br />

This year, the recipients have also been awarded a scholarship from the mobile sports promotions scholarship<br />

fund. This award recognizes commitment to academic and athletic endeavors, demonstration of sportsmanship<br />

on and off the athletic fields, and service as a role model to underclassmen. Each student will receive a<br />

scholarship at the completion of his or her first semester of college.<br />

The award's recipients are Sam Johnson and Gabby Fosdick<br />

Robert J. Smith, Jr. Award<br />

In annual honor of Mr. Smith and his inspiring 17 years of board chairmanship, we acknowledge that student<br />

in grades 9 to 12 who, in the opinion of the faculty, has demonstrated the greatest academic improvement<br />

during his or her years at CCA.<br />

Mr. Smith passed away on November 20, 2002. Just a few hours before he died, he was on the phone with Mr.<br />

Evans talking about his first love – CCA. They talked about a meeting Mr. Smith was to run the next day. He<br />

is joining us in spirit as we give his prize, with all of his love and affection, to Raheel Chaudhry.<br />

Citizenship Prize<br />

The citizenship prize recognizes a student who demonstrates a willingness to share and to cooperate, and<br />

sensitivity to the life and health of the school community. The recipient exemplifies what we mean when we<br />

speak of being a good, responsible, and caring person.<br />

The winner of the citizenship prize this year is Sage Ingram.<br />

The Siobhan Leigh Kinlin Award<br />

The Siobhan Leigh Kinlin Award was established by her sister, Mollie McCann Kinlin, a 2010 graduate of<br />

<strong>Cape</strong> <strong>Cod</strong> <strong>Academy</strong>. This award is given to the graduating senior who, in the opinion of his or her teachers,<br />

has impressed and touched our community by overcoming personal adversity - enriching us all with shared<br />

courage, idealism, and accomplishment.<br />

The recipient of the Siobhan Leigh Kinlin award this year is Meghan McCarthy<br />

Head of School Award<br />

The school’s final commencement award is determined by vote of the Upper School faculty. It is awarded to<br />

the individual whose many contributions have enriched and invigorated the school over time. This year’s<br />

recipient is Ben Taylor.
