Director of Advancement

THE POSITION

The full‐time Advancement Director provides leadership and management of the Advancement Office

and is responsible for planning and executing a comprehensive program to generate interest,

involvement and investment from constituents of Central Catholic High School. The Director of

Advancement provides direction and guidance to the school and parishes in all areas related to

advancement programs for Central Catholic High School. The Director of Advancement reports to the

principal and is responsible for the overall planning, management, coordination, and evaluation of

enrollment management, development, communications and constituent/public relations programs of

the school.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS







Active practice of the Catholic faith is strongly preferred.

Experience in development, enrollment management, sales, marketing, communication and/or

volunteer management.

Ability to communicate an understanding of and passion for Catholic education.

Superior communication skills and the ability to effectively recruit and manage volunteers.

Experience in a parochial or not‐for‐profit environment preferred.

Other requirements include:

o Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field is strongly preferred

o Two to five years experience in a related field

o Exceptional communication, writing and administrative skills as well as computer

proficiency. Knowledge of Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop is

preferred.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Governance and Strategic Planning




Promote understanding and support of the school’s vision and mission statement and objectives

of the school.

Work closely with the Advancement Committee of the Board of Trustees to set and achieve

desired goals and objectives.

Coordinate strategies and activities that support the school’s strategic plan.

Enrollment Management




Plan, implement and manage the marketing, recruitment and retention of students. This

includes open houses, direct mail campaigns, school tours, and coordination of our student

ambassadors program.

Work closely with volunteers to coordinate external and internal marketing efforts and

initiatives that attract and retain students.

Monitor enrollment at all feeder schools (parochial and public) and parish CCD programs and

plan recruitment activities accordingly.


Development







Plan, implement and manage all fundraising and friend‐raising activities.

Plan, implement and manage annual gifts, major gift and events including but not limited to

prospect identification and research, cultivation, solicitation, gift processing, acknowledgements

and stewardship.

Educate and engage volunteers in implementing mission based fundraising.

Create and support a culture of philanthropy within the school and the community.

Manage activities and revenue related to planned ‐giving.

Work collaboratively with the Board of Trustees and its Advancement Committee to develop

long term plans for advancement.

Communications


Develop and maintain professional writing and design standards for all school communications

including but not limited to:

o Print publications‐ school newsletters, the annual report, all marketing materials and

direct mail pieces.

o Electronic communications including website updates and email blasts.

o Media relations including advertising and press releases in local newspapers and local

media coverage of school events.

Constituent Relations



Coordinate the strategy and activities for constituent relations with all parts of the school

community including administration, faculty, staff, Board of Trustees, alumni, parents,

grandparents, parents of alumni, parishioners, corporations and foundations.

Assist the members of the Board of Trustees, staff and all school volunteers in their activities.

Operations





Database planning: data acquisition and management.

Database management as it relates to enrollment management and all development activities.

Preparation and monitoring of the annual budget for the advancement and alumni offices.

The principal may assign other duties as necessary.
