About Us<br />
Inaugurated in May 2007, the <strong>HFTP</strong><br />
PolyU Student Chapter was the first<br />
in Asia and the second outside North America,<br />
which provides a platform for members to<br />
build network with their peers and industry<br />
practitioners in the hospitality finance and<br />
technology sectors. <strong>The</strong> Chapter also helps its<br />
members to gain a better understanding <strong>of</strong> the<br />
accounting, financial management,<br />
information processing and technology<br />
management in the hospitality industry by<br />
holding different activities such as field trips<br />
and workshops.<br />
<strong>HFTP</strong> Headquarters<br />
<strong>of</strong> the Asia-Pacific Region<br />
<strong>The</strong> <strong>Hong</strong> <strong>Kong</strong> Polytechnic University has<br />
been designated by <strong>HFTP</strong> as its<br />
headquarters for the Asia-Pacific region.<br />
Situated in SHTM, the new headquarters<br />
was unveiled on 16 November, 2012 by Mr.<br />
Frank Wolfe, Chief Executive Officer <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>HFTP</strong> and Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Kaye Chon, Dean and<br />
Chair Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> SHTM.<br />
Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Chon remarked, “Through this<br />
platform, SHTM will further contribute its<br />
efforts in facilitating the educational and<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essional development <strong>of</strong> hospitality<br />
practitioners and, in turn, help enhance the<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essional standard for related<br />
disciplines."<br />

Past Events<br />
<strong>The</strong> Upper House <strong>Hotel</strong> Visit<br />
7 Mar 2012<br />
<strong>HFTP</strong> members had a wonderful opportunity to<br />
visit <strong>The</strong> Upper House in March, one <strong>of</strong> the upscale<br />
luxury hotels in <strong>Hong</strong> <strong>Kong</strong>. Its unique<br />
contemporary design and advanced technology<br />
have deeply impressed us .<br />
Singapore Study Tour<br />
April 2012<br />
In late April, Dr. Henry Tsai and 12 student<br />
members joined an exciting study tour to<br />
Singapore.<br />
Annual Gathering at Bistro 1979<br />
24 April , 2012<br />
We visited UNLV Singapore where our sister<br />
<strong>HFTP</strong> student chapter is located. Accompanied<br />
by their warm welcome, we visited Regent <strong>Hotel</strong>,<br />
Hard Rock <strong>Hotel</strong> and Festive <strong>Hotel</strong> in Resort<br />
World Sentosa. <strong>The</strong> tour was concluded with our<br />
happy hours enjoyed in Universal Studios.<br />
This memorable trip has not only broadened our<br />
horizons and enlightened us with some global<br />
insights, but also enabled us to experience the<br />
hospitality <strong>of</strong> Singapore!<br />
HICAP<br />
10 ~ 12 Oct 2012<br />
<strong>Hotel</strong> Investment Conference Asia Pacific (HICAP),<br />
one <strong>of</strong> the most established conferences in the hotel<br />
development area, was held in Intercontinental <strong>Hong</strong><br />
<strong>Kong</strong>.<br />
This year 14 student volunteers from our Student<br />
Chapter honorably attended HICAP 2012. In a<br />
round-table session, they were provided valuable<br />
opportunities to have direct conversations with<br />
industry leaders, which was an inspiring experience<br />
for all the participants.<br />
HITEC<br />
25 ~ 28 June 2012<br />
<strong>The</strong> world's largest hospitality and technology<br />
conference, HITEC 2012, was held in Baltimore,<br />
USA last summer. Two PolyU <strong>HFTP</strong> student<br />
delegates, Mr Li Ziwen and Ms Wang Cong<br />
participated in this conference with scholarships<br />
awards.<br />
