The Marham Matters
team have given me a
superb opportunity to
introduce myself, Sqn Ldr
Paula Willmot, the new
MCO at RAF Marham.
As the strap line says,
do come and use
the team in SHQ as
nine times out of
ten we can really ‘big up’ your
event or publicise it far wider
that you thought possible.
A little about myself; born
and bred in Eye in Suffolk
and in my 25 th year in the
RAF, its my first time at RAF
Marham. Previously I was the
MCO at Cottesmore and am
currently mid way between my
Harrier to Tornado conversion
course! Media experience has
mainly been as an ‘embed’
minder on Ops and despite
not having been at Marham I
deployed with IX(B) Sqn in 98
to Corsica for three months
when the current AOC was a
Wg Cdr. I have also worked
with TTTE, E3D and been an
RAF recruiter for nine years so
a broad brush of experience.
Outside of work I’m using
the skills learnt in the building
trade to renovate an old house
and enjoy volleyball, running
and cooking. In fact a few new
articles will be appearing over
the next few months, Paula’s
Pantry being the first. A monthly
tried and tested recipe. Look out
also for a feature called ‘In The
Hot Seat’ where we profile a key
member of the Station and ask
some desert island disc style
questions. In addition there will
be local astronomy and wildlife
as well as all the usual favourites
to enhance the experience
of being at RAF Marham.

the local community.
Warrant Officer Alan Lupton BEM
On the 17 th June 2011, WO Al Lupton, the Station
Mechanical Transport Officer, was marched off of RAF
Marham on his last working day in uniform by the
Station Commander, Group Captain Pete Rochelle.
Al, who joined the RAF
in October 1973 and
promoted to WO in
September 1995, is
the senior WO currently serving
in the RAF. Al will be sorely
missed after an exemplary
and distinguished career. He
was seen off with all the fine
traditions of a retiring WO; his
Squadron on parade, a piper and
the presentation of a Bowler Hat.
Warrant Officer Peter ‘Bunny’ Warren
On 26 th April 2011, WO ‘Bunny’ Warren, Officer
Commanding Engineering Support Flight, was also
marched off of RAF Marham after 38 years of service.

Wing, led the march along with 58
squadron personnel from the Forward
Engineering Squadron and the piper Mr Geoff Taylor.

As part of our aim to give something back to the

shirts for the Swaffham under 9’s rugby team. We
