WHERE ARE WE WITH

AVIATION BIOFUELS

Just the facts

Aviation 2% of global

CO2 emissions

.

Largest operating cost

Last year, airlines spent $140 billion on

jet fuel, or 30% of operating costs. In

2003, it was 14%.

Distribution points

More than 1 million gas

stations global, only

1,600 airports control

95% of the world’s

passengers.

Corporate social responsibility

Sustainability is key

• Not just a word - but a safeguard for a growing future aviation

• Push for solid sustainability criteria for biomass and processes

• Total sustainable supply chains

• Sufficient Life Cycle Analysis

• Encourage the development and adoption of a global

sustainability standard (RSB)

SAFUG

•Exhibit minimal impact on biodiversity

• Meet a sustainability standard with

respect to land, water, and energy

use

• Do not displace or compete with food

crops

• Provide a positive socioeconomic

impact

• Do not require any special fuel

handling equipment, distribution

systems, or changes to engine

design

Sustainable alternative fuel

SAS goal to blend in so much sustainable biofuel as possible when

it’s commercial available

• Dialogue with current and potential suppliers

• In tenders, - require a percentage of sustainable biofuel

• We will prioritize suppliers who can deliver

the highest amount of sustainable biofuel !

Collaboration: Swedavia, Avinor, Solena, Haldor Topsøe, CBD, etc

Dialogue:

Authorities, Statoil, BKL, Bioenergy Aabenraa/Sønderborg,

ATAG, CCC, CPH, 3GF, CWC etc

Lokalt og regionalt

National/Nordic region

“Flying High with a Green Approach”

Elektra One performed during 2011 in Oshkosh a demoflight during the showcase on saturday, July 30. 1-seat Electric

Aircraft designed to fly with batteries up to 4 hours, for a range of 500 km. In combination with a Solar Hangar

(SunAirport) – by SolarWorld, one of the biggest solar panel company of the world - flies with zero CO2-emission.

Elektra One flies with about with only 6 Kilo Watt per hour.

SAS and the environment

Big battle on resources

Make visible

Aviations strong future needs for alternative fuel

• Call for political long sighted view: Future energy supply, optimum

resource-use

• Strong and strategic collaboration among all players

• Cross industry collaboration – find the synergies

• Cleantech possibilities

• Clever geographical solutions
