The Austin Chapter of the Structural Engineers Association of Texas is sponsoring its thirteenth Structural

Design Seminar. The seminars are the chapter’s attempt at providing economical continuing engineering

education for our members and for the structural engineering community. The seminars provide practical

design information for practicing consulting engineers.

PURPOSE:

ong>Windong> ong>Effectsong> on Buildings and Structures

Provide the practicing structural engineer with a better understanding of the wind load provisions of ASCE

7-02 and wind effects on buildings and structures. Interpretations and limitations of key provisions of

ASCE 7-02 will be discussed. ong>Windong> damage documented over the past 30 years will be reviewed and

assessed. Load calculation procedures using design examples will be presented. The information will be

practical and useful to practicing engineers involved in the design of buildings and other structures.

Sign-in and late registration will take place from 8:00 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. There will be a short

refreshment break from 10:15 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Please try to be at the Commons Building by 8:00

a.m. so that the seminar can begin on time.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION:

A registration fee is charged for each person attending the seminar. The fee covers the cost of the

seminar, handout reproduction costs, and refreshments at the morning break.

We recommend that you register in advance. For those registering in advance, a check must accompany

your registration form. In case of cancellation, the fee will be refunded only if we are notified at least two
