Travel is the theme of our <strong>2012</strong> calendar. We asked knitters<br />
and crocheters of all experience levels to submit original<br />
designs relating to different categories of travel. Six winning<br />
designs were selected. Winning designs are:<br />

Frannie's Scarf<br />
Each design is featured in the calendar for 2 months of the<br />
year. The patterns for the items will be available for sale in the<br />
store. They will also be featured in the store for the 2 months<br />
they are featured in the calendar. All patterns will be sold<br />
exclusively by <strong>Knitters</strong> <strong>Mercantile</strong> in <strong>2012</strong>. All profits from the<br />
calendar and pattern sales will be donated to the Stefanie<br />
Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research.<br />

November Classes<br />
Holiday Wreath: Want to decorate your home in your<br />
knitting and crochet style this year Or do you need to make a<br />
quick hostess gift How about a holiday wreath Each class is<br />
focused on knitting or crocheting an ornament (or two) to hang<br />
on a wreath or adorn your gifts or tree. You may take as many<br />
of the six classes as you like. Or better yet, take all six! Cost:<br />
$15 per class plus supplies. Instructor: All of us.<br />
- Saturdays, November 5, 12, and 19 from 10:30 a.m. -<br />
12:30 p.m.<br />
Magic Loop Handwarmers: Makes a perfect gift for a<br />
friend, relative, or yourself. When the weather turns cooler,<br />
these hand warmers are sure to please. Learn how to cable<br />
using a slip stitch method without a cable needle. Also learn<br />
knitting in the round using the magic loop method. Cost: $30<br />
plus supplies. Instructor: Andrea.<br />

December Classes<br />
Beaded Scarf: The Katy Beaded Scarf is an elegant scarf<br />
that will dress up any outfit you put on - jeans to a little black<br />
dress. learn to transfer beads to your yarn and knit the scarf<br />
sliding the beads into place as you go. You will also learn three<br />
needle bind off. Cost: $30 plus supplies. Instructor: Janet and<br />
Anna.<br />

Beginners Hat: This class is designed to give students a<br />
chance to knit in the round with circular needles and double<br />
point needles. Students will learn to cast on and connect<br />
stitches in the round and learn to decrease and finish off the<br />
top of the hat. Cost: $30 plus supplies. Instructor: Andrea.<br />

Beginners Needle Felting: Learn how to needle felt as<br />
you made a lovely poinsettia pin or ornament. You can adorn
yourself or a tree this holiday. Cost: $25 plus supplies.<br />

- Monday, December 5 from 6 - 8 p.m.<br />
Beginning Knitting: In this four week class you will learn<br />
all the basic of knitting - the knit stitch, cast on, bind off,<br />
increasing, decreasing and more. Cost: $50 plus supplies.<br />

- Wednesday, December 7, 14, 21, and 28 from 12 - 2<br />
p.m.<br />
Great American Aran Afghan: The Great American<br />
Aran Afghan class teaches chart reading, how to cable, make<br />
bobbles, and other techniques needed to make the various<br />
squares. This class is offered once a month. You can come<br />
every month or pick one or two months. The December square<br />
is Jay Campell square on pgs 18 - 19. Cost: $15 per class plus<br />
supplies. Instructors: All of us.<br />

Christmas troublemakers. When decorating for the holidays you<br />
want to include monsters, right Make a set of these<br />
ornaments for everyone on your gift life and several sets for<br />
your own decorating. Students will learn knitting in the round<br />
with the magic loop method and three needle bind off. Cost:<br />
$30 plus supplies. Instructor: Kathryn.<br />
- Thursdays, December 1 and 8 from 6 - 8 p.m.<br />
Lace Cowl: Need a quick gift Want to treat yourself to<br />
something cuddly with that special hank of luxury fibers<br />
Ptarmigan is a perfect choice. Close fitting and luxurious, this<br />
cowl is an accessory that is quick to knit and indulgent to wear.<br />
This BrooklynTweed designed cowl is perfect for learning to<br />
read lace charts and knitting in the round. Cost: $30 plus<br />

Santa Helper Hat: Santa needs helpers! This cute, 2 color,<br />
pointed striped hat with a pompom teaches knitting in the<br />
round (with double point needles and a circular needle), jogless<br />
stripes, and pompoms. The hat will be custom sized to fit the<br />
recipient's head! Cost: $30 plus supplies. Instructor: Kathryn.<br />
- Tuesdays, December 6 and 13 from 1 - 3 p.m.<br />
