Swedavia:
Together we bring the world
closer
Accessibility is a strategic issue for
Sweden.
Our objective is to create
possibilities for sustainable growth
through good connections to, from
and within Sweden.
Safe and sustainable airports is the
foundation to our business model
to build customer satisfaction and
value.

Overall strategies
• Sustainable airport
group.
• High-quality business
development.
• Integrated airport
group.

World-class
environmental work
We are a world
leader in operating
climate-smart
airports.

Greener aviation
• The target is zero carbon
dioxide emissions by
2020.
• We support the aviation
industry’s global climate
objectives.

Our challenges
• Increased customer
focus.
• Increased market share.
• Attractive workplace.
• Continue to be a world
leader in running
climate-smart airports.

All Swedavia Airports are now
accredited to the highest ACA standard,
District heating based on
biofuels
Fossil emissions of CO2 from heating
of buildings is almost zero.
Aquifer in a boulder ridge is used for
energy storage and delivers almost
all cooling to the buildings.

Towards zero emissions
from airport vehicles
• Purchase policy for environmental cars
• Discount for vehicle permits on
environmental cars
• Infrastructure for renewable fuel
• Tests with renewable fuels on heavy vehicles
• Letter of Intent with airside companies

Green Flights
In cooperation with LFV and airlines offer as many green
flights as possible to and from Stockholm-Arlanda Airport
Target: 80% green approaches in 2012.

Ecotaxi priority
43 % market share 2009
88 % market share December 2010
100 % market share July 2011
Priority to pick up passengers is based on
environmental efficiency of the individual taxi

Arlanda is becoming
The national communication
hub
The airport is developing into a hub for
both air and ground transports.
”Letter of Intent” – Increased accessibility
and reduced environmental impact.
Target: 50% market share for public
transport in 2012.

To succeed, regional cooperation is needed.
Letter of Intent was signed the 22nd of September 2008
The purpose is to increase accessibility to Stockholm-Arlanda Airport
and at the same time reduce carbon emissions from ground transports
A-Banan Projekt AB

The result, so far…
Already achieved reduction of CO 2 /year,
compared with 1990 equivalent and at the
same time increased number of passengers
by 4 milion.
Annual cost reductions of 1 million EUR
(energy savings)
Action plan for an additional reduction
established.
First airport in the world to achieve highest
ranking (3+, Neutrality) in ACI Airport Carbon
Accreditation.
Awarded the Large energy-price of Sweden in
2009.
Awarded the ACI Eco innovation award 2010.
Awarded the environmental award at Grand
Travel Award 2011

The future: Swedavia and Bio-fuel
In order to reach our environmental targets, the introduction of bio-fuel at our
airports on a large scale is essential.
Swedavia will support actions by different stakeholders that aims for large
scale production of bio-fuel for both aviation and other vehicles.
Swedavias airports can work as excellent places to offset the produced fuel,
and Swedavia is also interested in purchasing bio-diesel for the airport
vehicles, at a competitive price.
