The AGM season is full swing in many clubs and Clubs
Victoria is no different. Its AGM was held on 26 th
October where the president presented his annual
address, the 95 th time this has been done. This is an astounding
achievement for a representative association and whilst there
have been many challenges over the years, Clubs Victoria
will continue representing the sector and its members. The
President’s address is included in his month’s edition of Club
Connect.
Members have also asked about the value of various
associations in Victoria and Kate Haworth reports on what
members can expect from Clubs Victoria; Julia Camm
discusses how club members can participate in the community
of the clubs and how clubs can promote this participation.
Steve Bowman our expert on Board governance provides
6 questions a Club Board should ask themselves and Nick
Tindley suggests strategy for the Christmas trading period.
Michelle Dalmau reports on the well-attended tours to Sydney
and Las Vegas ... obviously what went on in Vegas has not
stayed in Vegas as her report enlightens us of the good tour.
Victor Hamit discusses discipline issues for Clubs and Mark
Davies introduces Mercury Lite.
Our feature this month is the historical McWilliam’s Wines
and we profile their representative in Victoria, Lisa Prideaux.
Lisa provides good insight into how Clubs can prosper from
their wine lists and she endorses the view that education of
staff will help increase sales.
The support of Club Connect has been tremendous this year
since our launch and feedback has been appreciated. The
editorial plan for next year’s 6 issues will be launched on our
new website shortly. This magazine is designed to provide
clubs with a source of learning and we will continue to do this
next year. The magazine is delivered to all registered clubs in
Victoria as Clubs Victoria takes seriously its responsibility in
representing the sector and as well as its own members. Enjoy
the festive season and we shall see you in February 2012.
