Options include:<br />

• Complete withdrawal, backdated to start of term, with 100% refund;<br />

• Subject to the approval of the appropriate faculty member, continued enrollment with special grading options of<br />

Pass-Fail, Non-Credit, audit, or awarding of a grade of I (incomplete);<br />

• Subject to the approval of the appropriate faculty member, continued enrollment through electronic participation,<br />

which may or may not require an adjustment of course assignments; and<br />

• Any other action deemed appropriate.<br />

Students who are called to active-duty and are away from <strong>Lake</strong> <strong>Erie</strong> <strong>College</strong> for more than four consecutive semesters<br />

will be grandfathered into the academic catalog in force on their academic record at the time of departure for duty.<br />

Students must resume classes within 12 months of their return from active-duty in order to qualify for this exception.<br />

<strong>Lake</strong> <strong>Erie</strong> <strong>College</strong> limits academic residency to no more than twenty-five percent of the degree requirements for all<br />

degrees for active-duty service members (32 semester credits of the required 128 for degree completion). Academic<br />

residency can be completed at any time while active-duty service members are enrolled. All active-duty members of<br />

the Armed Services of the United States are covered under this policy.<br />

LEC Evaluation of Military Training/Service<br />

<strong>Lake</strong> <strong>Erie</strong> <strong>College</strong> recognizes and uses the ACE Guide to evaluate educational experiences in the Armed Services for the<br />

purpose of determining the value of learning acquired during military service. Credit is awarded consistent with ACE<br />

Guide recommendations and/or those transcripted by the Community <strong>College</strong> of the Air Force, when applicable to a<br />

service member’s program. Official transcripts are required to receive credit. The official transcripts may be requested<br />

online at www.jointtranscrpt.com All branches of the military use this service now except the US Air Force, USAF must<br />

request transcripts thru the Community <strong>College</strong> of the Air Force. www.au.af.mil/au/ccaf/transcripts.asp<br />

CAMPUS FACILITIES<br />

The George M. Humphrey Equestrian Center<br />

The George M. Humphrey Equestrian Center is the home of the Equine Studies Program at <strong>Lake</strong> <strong>Erie</strong> <strong>College</strong>. The new<br />

Learning Center was completed in 2009, and provides state of the art classroom and laboratory space for the academic<br />

program in Equine Studies. Equine Studies faculty and staff offices are also located in the Learning Center. The Learning<br />

Center serves as a “home base” for Equine Studies students, with a computer lab and a very popular student lounge<br />

overlooking the main indoor arena. The Equestrian Center is located approximately 5 miles from the main campus.<br />

Shuttle service is provided for students Monday through Saturday during the school year.<br />

The Equestrian Center houses all of the equestrian activities and facilities at <strong>Lake</strong> <strong>Erie</strong> <strong>College</strong>. The 86-acre facility offers<br />

permanent stabling for up to 95 horses in two barns, including school horses and student and faculty boarders. We<br />

also have temporary stabling for 39 additional horses during horse shows. Our turn out facilities includes grass and all<br />

weather paddocks with electric and vinyl fences.<br />

A breeding laboratory in the school barn contains space and equipment for students to learn and practice all aspects of<br />

modern breeding management including collection of the school’s stallions, the evaluation and processing of cooled semen,<br />

teasing mares and artificial insemination. Coursework and practical laboratory experience at the Equestrian Center provide<br />

opportunities for students to utilize industry best practices in the day to day management of our equestrian facilities.<br />

Our facilities provide many riding and showing venues for our students. Our 100’ x 225’ indoor arena with seating for<br />

700 spectators has an attached 70’ x 130’ warm-up arena. We also have four outdoor rings including a lighted 225’ x 100<br />

‘ enclosed outdoor arena, a hunt field with cross country jumps and a recently renovated multi-tier bank. Throughout<br />

the year, we host several dressage and hunter/jumper shows, as well as clinics with professional horsemen. Information<br />

Fine and Performing Arts<br />

<strong>Lake</strong> <strong>Erie</strong> <strong>College</strong> prides itself on its excellent facilities for the fine and performing arts. The art, dance and theatre<br />

programs are housed in the Fine Arts Building, site of the B.K. Smith Gallery and the C.K. Rickel Theatre.<br />

<strong>Lake</strong> <strong>Erie</strong> <strong>College</strong> Theatre<br />

The theatre program boasts technical facilities that are among the best to be found in any small college in the country.<br />

State of-the-art computerized lighting control, multichannel sound mixing and a fully-equipped scene shop support a<br />

program offering both traditional and experimental works. The theatre program produces a range of plays throughout<br />

the year, some of which have been premiere productions of the work of new playwrights.<br />
