Quick, Effec tive and Economic al.
Bipolar coagulation with ERBE BiClamp is an established electrosurgical
procedure for the safe coagulation of vascularized tissue structures
such as the mesentery, the peritoneum or the omentum. In gynecology,
the BiClamp procedure allows a new innovative technique for vaginal
hysterectomy to be carried out. Coagulation with BiClamp means that
the preparation and dissection of individual vessels can usually be
dispensed with. Additional ligatures or conventional coagulation are
generally not required. The procedure is quick, reliable and effective.
It is also economical as the instruments are re usable and the procedure
saves suture material and clips.
The VIO electrosurgical system supports bipolar coagulation with ERBE
BiClamp with its special patented hardware and software which were
specifically developed for use with BiClamp, providing waveforms and
voltages as required for different procedures – especially adjusted to
this application technique. You do not need a separate unit in addition
to the ERBE VIO System, you only need additional software.
The advantages of ERBE BiClamp
Tissue structures can be coagulated
Operating principle
Coagulation with BiClamp is essentially based on two mechanisms. Firstly, there are
the specially tested bipolar waveforms and electrically voltages, produced by the new
electrosurgical generator of the ERBE VIO System. Then, the particular features of the
ERBE BiClamp create a parchment-like coagulation seam during bipolar coagulation, an
indication that the vessels have been properly sealed.
Surgical procedure
The tissue which is to be separated is grasped with the BiClamp instrument.
Using the ERBE electrosurgical VIO System a bipolar electrosurgical
current – with an optimally adjusted waveform, voltage and current
density – is applied and the tissue is coagu lated.
The patented AUTO STOP function auto matically stops the coagulation
process when optimal coagulation is achieved. Lateral thermal damage is
thus avoided.
The instrument is then opened and the tissue is separated mechanically
down the centre of the visible coagulation area. In some cases it may
be help ful to carry out two BiClamp
applications, one next to the other, and
then to cut the tissue between the coagulation
seams. Coagulation with BiClamp is
so effective that an additional ligature or
coagulation is usually not required.
