Terminal tractor designed
for distribution centres
Kalmar Industries has
launched a new terminal
tractor designed specifically
to meet the operational
requirements of
European distribution
centres. According to to
Kalmar, compared to conventional
over-the-road
trucks its new purposebuilt
TT612d terminal
tractor can turn around
trailers at least twice as
quickly.
The new vehicle is
designed to offer excellent
manoeuvrability, low
operating costs, superior
cabin comfort, easily
accessible service points
as a top consideration in
constructing a productive,
low-cost workhorse, the
TT612d’s cabin has been
totally redesigned to
include a taller rear doorway.
Only one low step
separates the cabin from
rear deck, ensuring an
easy, smooth entry and
exit for the driver.
Kalmar’s new distribution
tractor also facilitates safe
movements even in poor
and wet conditions with
wide stairways on both
sides of the rear deck and
the industry’s largest
level work space.
Timo Matikainen,
sales in Europe, comments:
“Today, Europe’s
extensive network of retail
and logistics depots continues
to grow as more
customers require
enhanced speed-to-market
and just-in-time deliveries
and inter-European
Union commerce continues
to rise. Kalmar’s overwhelming
reputation as
the preferred supplier of
terminal tractors to the
mature North American
distribution market laid
the groundwork for successfully
introducing the
modernised, purpose-built
TT612d model to customers
and reliability. With Director in charge of
in Europe.”
FORKLIFT TRUCKS
Elevated position
Yale has introduced a
raised operator version of
its Veracitor VX lift truck.
With a 500 mm higher
operator position than
standard Veracitor VX, the
raised operator module on
the new model is designed
to make handling double
height pallets or taller
loads safer and more productive.
Having a higher driving
position for the operator
has distinct advantages
when handling timber,
paper or food and beverages
in larger volume
loads. The raised operator
module offers clear
forward vision over the
load when travelling forwards
and better allround
visibility when using
attachments and manoeuvring
in tight spaces.
There is also no load
capacity reduction due to
the raised cab position.
STORAGE
Automated
options
Racking manufacturer
Mecalux reports that it is
now concentrating its R&D
investment on automated
storage solutions.
Automated options
currently available from
the company include a
miniload automated warehouse
for boxes, an automated
warehouse for pallets
and conveyor-based
systems for pallets and
boxes.
Mecalux say that prior
to any project being
undertaken, a thorough
logistics study is undertaken
to identify a company's
requirements and product
movements to ensure that
the optimum solution is
created.
The Flimmer industrial
air cleaning system
from Zehnder
Clean Air
Solutions continuously
vacuum cleans
the air and removes
dust from a building
before it can cause
product damage.
The system is
already in operation at
warehouses and distribution
centres
throughout Europe as
well as key installations
within the UK
such as Dairy Crest,
IKEA, Walkers Crisps,
Cannon Confidential
and Fullers.
