1. Move the lens until you see a bright dot next

to the pin hole that is in focus.

2. Write down the distance of the lens from the

pin-hole = the focal length

Investigating Lenses



Draw ray diagrams to investigate whether the image is

upright, upside-down, magnified or reduced when the

object is beyond (further away) the focus of the lens.

Use ray diagrams to predict what happens to the image

as you move the object towards and away from the

focus of the lens.
