Keynote Speaker:

Mr Mak Swee Wah, Executive Vice President (Commercial)

Singapore Airlines Ltd

Mr Mak graduated from the London School of Economics with a Masters Degree in

Science, majoring in Operational Research, and a Bachelor of Science (First Class

Honours), in Accounting and Finance. Mr Mak joined Singapore Airlines in 1983 as Tariffs

Systems Executive and has held senior management positions in Singapore as well as overseas. Mr Mak was

posted to Sydney as Senior Vice-President South West Pacific on 19 October 2000 and returned to Head

Office as Senior Vice-President Marketing in February 2004. He became Senior Vice-President Planning on

19 April 2004 and was promoted to Executive Vice-President for Operations and Services on 1 January

2008. On 1 February 2011 he was appointed Executive Vice-President Commercial and took charge of all

commercial areas, including marketing, sales, product development and customer service. Mr Mak is

Chairman of SilkAir.

Mr Kevin Leong, General Manager

Asia Cruise Association

Kevin joined the Asia Cruise Association as General Manager on 1 July 2012. He was

formerly with the Singapore Tourism Board for 36 years, serving in a variety of portfolios

that included international marketing, MICE and events marketing. In 2006 while on a

posting in STB Sydney, he concurrently chaired the ASEAN Cruise Working Group to co-ordinate the

development of the regional cruise industry for the 10-member countries. As Chairman, he steered the

ACWG’s cruise marketing and promotional activities and brought together officials from ASEAN’s maritime

transport, NTOs and private sector cruise players for regular dialogue sessions. He also worked closely with

the major cruise lines operating in Asia in the formation of the Asia Cruise Association.

Mr Goh Chin Kwee, MBA (NUS), Lecturer, Diploma in Gerontological

Management Studies (GEM), School of Humanities & Social Sciences

Temasek Polytechnic

Chin Kwee is a lecturer from the Diploma in Gerontological Management Studies, in

Temasek Polytechnic (TP), the first and only diploma on gerontology and related services in Singapore. Chin

Kwee developed and delivers the main curriculum for the silver tourism specialization subjects. He is

currently investigating silver tourism in Singapore, through a collaborative research project between TP and

NATAS. Prior to his joining Temasek Polytechnic, he was the head of the Overseas Travel Services branch in

Ministry of Defence and later ST Electronics (e-Services) Pte Ltd, which focused on corporate travel. His

other work experiences are project management, operational and pre-sales roles in start-ups including a

NASDAQ-listed IT datacenter company and a local wireless communications company.

Mr Sheldon Hee, Senior Manager Marketing Communications & Development

Singapore Airlines Ltd

Sheldon graduated from the Nanyang Technological University with a Masters Degree

in Science, majoring in Information Studies, and a Bachelor of Applied Science in

Computer Engineering. Sheldon joined Singapore Airlines in 1998 as an Administrative Officer in the

Management Services Division. He was subsequently posted to Marketing as Loyalty Marketing Executive

before he took up a position as Regional Marketing Manager for South East Asia, Japan and Korea. In 2005,

Sheldon was posted to Fukuoka, Japan as Manager Kyushu. He subsequently was appointed as General

Manager Switzerland in 2008 before returning to Singapore as General Manager for Tradewinds Tours &

Travel in 2009. He was appointed Senior Manager for Marketing Communications & Development in

October 2011.



Mr Robert Khoo, Group CEO

Robert is an industry veteran with 37 years of experience in the travel industry. Prior to

his appointment as NATAS Chief Executive Officer in year 2000, he was the Managing Director of an

established Singapore travel company. Robert has a wide range of industry experience in almost every

sector of the trade. In the international scene, Robert was a past President of the ASEAN Tourism

Association (ASEANTA) and the Federation of ASEAN Travel Agent’s Associations (FATA). Robert was also a

past Board member of Singapore Tourism Board (STB). Over the years Robert has transformed the

Association into a much respected tourism body setting the lead locally and internationally. Today NATAS

has three subsidiaries namely an investment arm, an events arm and a training institution catering to the

needs of the public as well as its 450 members.

Ms Margaret Heng, Executive Director

Singapore Hotel Association

Ms Margaret Heng is concurrently the Chief Executive of the Shatec Institutes effective

December 2011 and the Executive Director of the Singapore Hotel Association. She has

been with the Association for more than 20 years. Ms Heng works closely with the SHA

Board to implement directions and policies set by the Board. Her responsibilities include working closely

with the membership to implement projects relating to manpower, productivity, marketing, image building,

human resource training and development, service quality, environment, fire safety and security,

conducting research, making representations, and dissemination of information. In addition, Ms Heng also

liaises closely with government departments, statutory boards and other associations and private

organizations on behalf of the membership.

Multi-faceted in her appeal and persona, Jacqueline has lent her face and talent to a

diverse variety of films, television, theatre and commercials. Graduated with a Masters

degree from NUS Business School, Jacqueline is putting her business education to use as
