Introduction<br />
<strong>Sawmills</strong> have been present across <strong>New</strong> Hampshire’s l<strong>and</strong>scape for hundreds <strong>of</strong> years.<br />
The mills represent a rich tradition <strong>of</strong> producing quality wood products from the state’s<br />
renewable forests. Today, there are approximately 100 commercial sawmills operating<br />
in <strong>New</strong> Hampshire that produce over 350 million board feet <strong>of</strong> lumber each year.<br />
<strong>New</strong> Hampshire sawmills are required to register with the <strong>NH</strong> Division <strong>of</strong> Forests <strong>and</strong><br />
L<strong>and</strong>s (RSA 434.59-61). To request an application please call (603)271-3456.<br />

The Taylor Up-<strong>and</strong>-Down Sawmill is situated on Ballard Pond at the 85-acre Ballard State Forest<br />
