Scientific Activity:
Area of Scientific Interests:
Chemical kinetics and catalysis; Coordination compounds with partial charge transfer in
reduction-oxidation processes, Ecological Chemistry, Transformations of hydrogen peroxide in
the environment (oceans-seas-lakes-rivers, atmosphere-hydrosphere, soil-hydrosphere),
Optimization of chemical and ecological technologies, Self-purification processes in natural
water, Wastes management, Chemical risk assessment, Ecological audit, Ecological education.
Scientific School and Disciples:
Founder of the Scientific School in Ecological Chemistry, developed the theory of the redox
state in the environment, has elucidated the reduction-oxidation mechanisms of the
components during the process of aquatic systems and wine products quality formation. The
following processes and methods have been developed: technologies of physical-chemical and
biochemical treatment of wastewaters; wastes management; preparation of medical and
cosmetic substances; reducing of toxic air emissions; chemical risk assessment methods in the
appearance of pulmonary and gastro-intestinal cancer; new processes of biologically active

substances preparation; ecological audit; ecological education. The results of this research have
been reflected in more than 500 works, both in the Republic of Moldova and abroad, including
36 monographs and manuals. Author of more than 100 patents, many of them being awarded
with the distinctions, gold and silver medals at the International Salons on Inventions and
Innovations in Brussels, Geneva, Budapest, Iasi, Moscow, London, Sofia, Beijing.
Scientific school consists of 20 disciples, 18 disciples have obtained doctoral degree and 2
habilitate doctor degree, under the supervision of the incumbent.
Scientific Publications:
Author of more than 67 monographs and manuals; 133 patents; 1500 scientific articles on
physical chemistry, environmental chemistry and technological chemistry.
