<strong>Entry</strong> Requirements for <strong>Post</strong> <strong>Graduate</strong> <strong>Diploma</strong>/ <strong>MSc</strong> <strong>in</strong> Nurs<strong>in</strong>g<br />

<strong>Entry</strong> requirements are as follows:-<br />

Completion of an extended curriculum vitae (CV), accord<strong>in</strong>g <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Guidance Notes and Profoma (attached) .<br />

The extended CV will be used by <strong>the</strong> Programme Leader <strong>to</strong> discuss <strong>the</strong><br />

entry of <strong>the</strong> students <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> programme.<br />

The PGDip/<strong>MSc</strong> <strong>in</strong> Nurs<strong>in</strong>g programme will prepare you <strong>to</strong> register with <strong>the</strong> NMC<br />

as registered Adult, Mental health, Learn<strong>in</strong>g Disabilities or Child Nurse and <strong>to</strong><br />

complete a master’s qualification <strong>in</strong> 2 years. This programme will provide you<br />

with opportunity <strong>to</strong> build and develop upon your previous learn<strong>in</strong>g experiences.<br />

The programme recognises that as a graduate you will br<strong>in</strong>g with you a range of<br />

attributes, <strong>the</strong>se <strong>in</strong>clude not only expertise <strong>in</strong> your subject, but also <strong>the</strong> ability <strong>to</strong><br />

manage your own learn<strong>in</strong>g, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g mak<strong>in</strong>g use of sources of evidence <strong>to</strong> make<br />

judgments, which is central <strong>to</strong> 21st century nurs<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

As a graduate you will have research activity proficiency and an ability <strong>to</strong><br />

communicate <strong>in</strong>formation, ideas, problems and solutions <strong>to</strong> a range of audiences,<br />

all <strong>the</strong>se attributes make you ideally suited <strong>to</strong> undertak<strong>in</strong>g an excit<strong>in</strong>g but<br />

challeng<strong>in</strong>g pre-registration nurs<strong>in</strong>g programme.<br />

This programme has been designed <strong>to</strong> enable you <strong>to</strong> transfer your previous<br />

lean<strong>in</strong>g and <strong>in</strong>tegrate this will <strong>the</strong> specific knowledge and skills of nurs<strong>in</strong>g. This<br />

extended CV will allow you <strong>the</strong> opportunity <strong>to</strong> evidence how <strong>the</strong> graduate skills<br />

you have already developed are transferable <strong>to</strong> healthcare. With<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> extended<br />

CV you will need <strong>to</strong> demonstrate how your exist<strong>in</strong>g skills meet <strong>the</strong> follow<strong>in</strong>g level<br />

6 learn<strong>in</strong>g outcomes.<br />

Please note that <strong>the</strong> number<strong>in</strong>g and letter<strong>in</strong>g with<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> brackets refer <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Nurs<strong>in</strong>g and Midwifery Councils Standards of Proficiency.<br />

These are <strong>the</strong> learn<strong>in</strong>g outcomes aga<strong>in</strong>st which you will need <strong>to</strong> demonstrate<br />

1. Introduction<br />

These guidel<strong>in</strong>es are designed <strong>to</strong> assist you <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> actual process of<br />

identify<strong>in</strong>g your significant learn<strong>in</strong>g experiences,. Thought needs <strong>to</strong> be given<br />

about all <strong>the</strong> experiences which may have contributed <strong>to</strong> your development<br />

and as such will accredit you with acceptance on<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> programme. Credit<br />

will be given for learn<strong>in</strong>g and competence<br />

An extended CV (with<strong>in</strong> this context) is taken <strong>to</strong> mean <strong>the</strong> collection of<br />

evidence you compile <strong>in</strong> order <strong>to</strong> identify <strong>the</strong> learn<strong>in</strong>g that you have acquired<br />

from prior experiences and or formal courses.<br />

A template has been provided for you on page 5 which will enable you <strong>to</strong><br />

provide relevant quality evidence aga<strong>in</strong>st <strong>the</strong> stated learn<strong>in</strong>g outcomes.<br />

Aga<strong>in</strong>st each of <strong>the</strong> learn<strong>in</strong>g outcomes you will be expected <strong>to</strong> reflect upon<br />
