registration when I apply for or renew
my parking.
7. Read all emails and notices from University Apartments.
8. Not leave any items outside my apartment.
Fire Alarm Blues
Have the number of fire alarms occurring in the building
given you the blues Here are tips to follow to avoid
setting off the fire alarms.
• When you cook on your stovetop, make sure
you turn your vent fan on to vent out the steam
and smoke, especially if cooking with hot oil.
• Make sure you clean your oven regularly as
accumulated grease on the bottom can cause
excessive smoking.
• If your kitchen smoke detector does go off, turn the vent
fan on high, open your windows, and fan the smoke
detector until it shuts off. Opening your front door and
letting smoke into the hallway will set off the whole
building.
Spotlight on...Sustainability
The way in which we go about
our daily lives has a
tremendous impact on our
environment. But there are
many things we can each do
individually to reduce our
carbon emissions. The choices
we make in our homes, the way
we travel, the food we eat, and
what we buy and throw away
all influence our carbon
footprint and can help ensure a
more stable environment for
future generations.
Try The Nature Conservancy's
carbon footprint calculator to
measure your impact on our
climate. This carbon footprint
calculator estimates how many
tons of carbon dioxide and
other greenhouse gases your
choices create each year. Visit
http://www.nature.org/
calculator/
to learn more
about your effect
on the world
around you.
Some Quick Reminders
• Use “green” cleaning
supplies and avoid aerosols.
• Wash only full loads of
dishes and clothes; wash
clothes with cold water
whenever possible.
• Make sure the fish you buy
or eat is sustainable!
• Turn off your water while
scrubbing dishes or
brushing your teeth.
• Turn out lights and unplug
appliances when not in use.
