Nowers, Arthur Henry Crawford (1881 – 1957)<br />

Arthur was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. He helped build the <strong>Ontario</strong> Hydro building at<br />

Queenston. When the work was completed he was then hired as a Hydro employee, and<br />

remained there until his retirement. He was also a writer of poetry, books and plays.<br />

Arthur married Isabel Alice Collis (1876 – 1934). Isabel was born in England. Arthur<br />

and Isabel are buried in Fairview, Section 3, Plot 222.<br />

Arthur and Isabel had two daughters:<br />

1. Emmeline May, married Wm. Eric Lamb. They had two sons (one stillborn)<br />

and one daughter.<br />

2. Alice Josephine (1908 – 1956), married Roy W. Delaney (1909 – 1990). They<br />

had one son. Alice and Roy are buried in Fairview Section 7, Plot 799.<br />

Lamb, William (1873 – 1946)<br />

William was born in Northern England. He was a Professional Baker and an Actuary for<br />

London Life. William married Mary E. Butler (1873 – 1954). Mary was born in<br />

Northern England and was a Professional Baker. William and Mary are buried in<br />

Fairview Section 7, Plot 404.<br />

They had three sons & one daughter:<br />

1. Wm. Eric (1897 – 1969) married Emmeline May Nowers (1905 – 1977). They<br />

are buried in Fairview, Section 8, Plot 641.<br />

2. Reginald B. (1903 - 1979). He is buried in Fairview, Section 6, Plot 17.<br />

3. Harold (1911 – 1964) married Marion Louise Hammond (1913 – 1987). They<br />

are buried in Fairview, Section 8, Plot 408.<br />

4. Nora (1898 – 1989) married Albert E. Revill (1894 – 1960). They are buried in<br />

Fairview, Section 8, Plot 64.<br />

All four children were born in England. William Eric is mentioned below. Reginald and<br />

Harold both worked at the Morris Crane, and were musicians.<br />

Lamb, William Eric (1897 – 1969)<br />

William was born in Blackpool, England. He worked for over forty years for <strong>Ontario</strong><br />

Hydro (Queenston Plant). William married Emmeline May Nowers (1905 – 1977).<br />

Emmeline was born in Brantford, <strong>Ontario</strong> and worked as an operator for Bell Telephone.<br />

Both were long-time Church Choir Members, and Church Workers. William and<br />

Emmeline are buried in Fairview, Section 8, Plot 641.


They had three children:<br />

1. Robert Eric (1927 - ) married to Shirley Joan Amos (1931 - )<br />

2. Second son (stillborn) – buried in Fairview Cemetery.<br />

3. Daughter – Barbara Isabel (1934 - ) married to Carlo Bellon (1937 - )<br />

Amos, Percy Charles (1900 – 1976)<br />

Percy was born in Trealaw, South Wales and came to <strong>Niagara</strong> <strong>Falls</strong> in 1930, with his wife<br />

Gladys and two children – Don and Hazel. Shirley was born in <strong>Niagara</strong> <strong>Falls</strong> in 1931.<br />

Percy retired as kiln foreman in 1969 from the Canadian Ohio Brass Co. Ltd., after forty<br />

years with that firm. He was also a Stamford Volunteer Fireman.<br />

Percy’s wife, Gladys Evelyn Bunston (1898 – 1982) was born in Cardiff, South Wales,<br />

U.K. They were married fifty-five years. Both loved to sing, and had very nice singing<br />

voices. They are buried in Fairview, Section 5, Plot 220.<br />

They had three children:<br />

1. Donald George (1920 – 1996) was born in South Wales, U.K. He was an<br />

employee of the North American Cyanamid, and a Professional Musician. He<br />

married Pearl Georgina Margaret Currie (1921 – 1979) “Pudge” was born in<br />

<strong>Canada</strong>. They are both buried in Fairview, Section 7, Plot 171.<br />

2. Hazel Gertrude Elizabeth (1924 – 1999) was born in South Wales, U.K. She<br />

was a Secretary at the Canadian Ramapo Iron Works Ltd. and later operated<br />

Stevenson’s Stationery Store at the Stamford Green Plaza. Hazel was a very<br />

active worker at Christ Church. Hazel married John “Jack” Straiton Stevenson<br />

(1920 - ). Hazel is buried in Fairview, Section 0, Plot 767.<br />

3. Shirley Joan (1931 - ) married Robert Eric Lamb (1927 - ). Shirley was born in<br />

<strong>Niagara</strong> <strong>Falls</strong>, <strong>Ontario</strong>.<br />

Gladys Amos’s sister, Lily Ann Bunston, is also buried in Fairview, Section 4, Plot 679.<br />

Lily Ann Bunston (1889 – 1980) married William Findlay (1889 – 1944). They had<br />

four daughters:<br />

1. Irene Hoffman (1913 – 1935) – husband Earl Section 3A, Plot 111<br />

2. Vera Biggar (1918 – 1988) – husband Hue Vincent Section 9, Plot 286<br />

3. Elsie Symonds (1916 – 2007) – husband Philip Section 9, Plot 287<br />

4. Norma O’Neil (1929 - ) – husband Raymond – (died in 1980).<br />

Also many cousins….mostly in the name of Bunston, but we won’t carry this that far.<br />
