RON HARPER 2008 Board President By the time you read this Spring will have sprung, Easter will be over, everyone will be back from spring break (at least physically) and the course will be turning green. It is a sure sign of summer when the registration forms for the Summer Youth Camps are available. The City has finally received a permit from the Corps of Engineers for the dredging of the lake on number 12. The latest word that we have gotten is that work will begin in May. The dredging work may go as far as Valley Creek Trail, depending on bid costs and available funds. I can guarantee you that it will be a bit messy while the work is going on, but the long term result should result in a nicer water feature. Speaking of looking nice – I have recently received some comments about the course.. Winter never puts a golf course into its best light; however, I think that Paul and his crew have worked pretty diligently this winter. We as members can do a bit to help – pick up broken tees, don’t throw trash on the fairways and into bunkers, fix divots, fix ball marks on the green (yours and one other), rake the bunkers to the condition that you would want them to be if you rolled into one. All of these things will help the course and the club present itself in a favorable light. Why Wouldn’t You Come To This Event RSVP TODAY...972-529-6779 Most hunting takes place in the Fall or Winter when the conditions and timing are right to h a r v e s t s e l e c t e d Bob & Carolyn Philo game. But Ambassador Co-Chairs w h e n it comes to hunting new members for our Club, Fall and Winter are generally not the right time. We usually l o s e m e m b e r s during the Winter season through natural attrition but this past Winter, we actually gained members! Why Great value and the friendliness of our membership. Now we have momentum and the timing and cond it ions are right. With warmer weather and more outside activities people tend to consider joining a Club at this time of year. We are golf, tennis, swimming, dining - and much more. But people tend to think first of the outdoor activities when considering club membership. So, we are declaring April, May and June as OPEN SEASON. Now is the best time to locate potential new members and invite them to join our club. Remember, your club is m em b er s h ip by in v it at io n only! Only you, our members, have the right to extend that invitation to your friends, neighbors, co-workers and acquaintances. The process is simple; just get the name and address of your candidate to Chelsea. She will extend the invitation in your name. We have nothing to lose & everything to gain. Carolyn and Bob Philo
