2010 Ford Ironman World Championship Results
TOP THREE WOMEN
3
Mirinda Carfrae • Australia • 08:58:36
The 2007 Ironman 70.3 World Champion made her Ironman debut in
style in 2009, finishing second, thanks to a record-setting 2:56:51
marathon. This year, another blistering-fast run (2:53:32 - a new
run course record) provided her a World Championship victory and
first Ironman title. The 29-year-old Australian began her day with a
55:53 swim and much-improved 5:04:59 bike split. Despite trailing by
more than 11 minutes at the end of the bike, Carfrae passed Caroline
Steffen and Julie Dibens to win in 8:58:36, the fourth-fastest time in
Ironman World Championship history.
Caroline Steffen • Switzerland • 09:06:00
Switzerland’s Caroline Steffen, 32, finished second for the third time
this year - she was also the runner-up at Spec-Savers Ironman South
Africa and the Frankfurter Sparkasse Ironman European Championship.
Steffen’s impressive 55:57 swim was followed by one of only
four sub-five hour bike rides (4:59:23) in the women’s race. Steffen
ran a 3:05:47 marathon to finish second in a time of 9:06:00.
Julie Dibens • Great Britain • 09:10:04
The current Ironman 70.3 World Champion, Julie Dibens, 35, used one
of the fastest swims (she was second out of the water with a time
of 53:50) to start her day. After posting the second-fastest bike split
(4:55:28) and a 3:16:12 marathon, she crossed the line in third and
finished in 9:10:04.
