Letter from Wingfield Farm
Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 8 pm
The show that started the Wingfield series back in
1985 comes to Richmond Hill as the beginning of a
seven year cycle! When a captain of industry trades his
pin-stripe suit for overalls and retreats to a 40 hectare farm, the residents of Persephone
Township raise their eyebrows. Weekend farmers are a common enough sight, but this man
seems to think he can make a living with a broken down racehorse and a single furrow plough.
Written as a series of letters to the editor of the Larkspur weekly newspaper, Letter From Wingfield
Farm is the hilarious story of one man’s attempt to embrace a less complicated world.
11.12 RBC Education Series
The RBC Education Series is back with an exciting new program for the 2011-2012 school year!
Committed to being a resource for the education community, our incredible performances of dance,
drama and music aim to give students an opportunity to experience the magic of live performance.
This past season saw more than 8,000 students attend high-quality, engaging productions and
participate in interactive workshops with industry professionals. As always, all of our shows have direct
links to the Ontario Curriculum, both at the elementary and secondary levels and teacher resource
guides are available for each performance.
Whether we are blasting off into space, exploring ancient Greek mythology, battling for racial
equality or meeting a spider named Charlotte, the Education Series at the RHCPA remains
committed to the growth of the student through the arts.
For more information or to book your group today, contact the Education Department at
education@richmondhill.ca or call 905-787-8471, ext. 228.
Theatre Without Borders
The basis for the Tim Hortons Theatre Without Borders program is access: access to the thrilling experience of live
theatre. Both Tim Hortons store owners and the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts share a commitment
in bringing the arts to the community regardless of socio-economic background. Administered by the Richmond
Hill Centre in conjunction with area school boards and Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Tim Hortons Theatre Without
Borders program will ensure that disadvantaged schools and families are given access to the Richmond Hill
Centre for the Performing Arts.
Last year, the program assisted in bringing over 1,000 students to the theatre who otherwise would not have had
the opportunity to see a live performance.
We are thrilled we could make a difference in the lives of so many, and hope to build upon this success in the
coming year. The Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts will continue to make education and community
accessibility a priority. We are excited for the opportunity to partner with Tim Hortons store owners of York Region in
this most worthy cause.
To apply or for more information, contact Eli Lukawitz by calling 905-787-8471, ext. 225
or emailing elukawitz@richmondhill.ca.
