It is also attachment and passion. It is the love of detail and artistic mastery.

It is experience handed down over generations and loving memories. It is certainly the past, but also

the vivid future.

One can always breathe new life into tradition, but only while carefully maintaining it.

Tradition can also be continually reinterpreted, if embraced with care. Its genes consist of values and

our perception of these values.

This is what this online store is about: values worth buying, collecting and cherishing.

For me, tradition began as a child. My mother knew how to gently expose us to it.

There would be silver cutlery on her grandmother’s damask tablecloths at meals.

Fine crystal glasses for beverages.

Especially exciting were the centrepieces – her beloved,

inherited and constantly growing

collection of porcelain figures would be carefully removed

from the vitrines and lovingly arranged with

flowers. Napkin rings with the finest pulled thread embroidered

serviettes and recipes from the past,

reinterpreted.

I fondly remember these days. They were so

full of stories.

And I catch myself passing on precisely these stories to

my own children.

A tradition I consider worth living and

experiencing.

“When Gloria von Thurn und

Taxis hosted a private event, I had

to wear an official sash with my ball

gown, that has been tailormade by

Akris for me.

Being married to a prince, albeit not

being an aristocrat myself, I felt the

need to create my own interpretation

of a decoration.

In honour of my Bolivian roots, I

decided to wear a handmade gold

brooch, shaped like a medal.

Funnily enough, the Cholitas back

home wear similar opulent jewellery

with details of the Spanish crown.

So for me it was the perfect fit.

Of course everybody kept on asking

what I am wearing and I was happy to

repeat over and over again, that this

reflects my South-American roots

which are an important part of my

existence.

It ended up being a magical night
