FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Who is eligible for Club membership

To qualify for membership, an applicant must be a person of at least 21 years of age and of good

character, and must be referred to the Minneapolis Club by a current Resident member.

Tell me about the application process and what is involved

A membership application should first be requested from the Club’s membership department through

a current member. Resident & Non-Profit Executive applicants require signatures from four (4)

sponsors and two letters of recommendation. Non-Resident applicants require signatures from two

(2) sponsors and one letter of recommendation. The completed materials should then be forwarded

to Margaret Leto, Membership Director to process for final approval by both the Membership and

Governing Committees. At that time, both the applicant(s) and Primary Sponsor(s) will be notified

of the Committees’ decision.

What materials are required in order to enter the application process

The requirements for proposing a candidate for membership are:

1. The completed application and interest profile form with the appropriate number of

signatures (Four for Resident applicants and Two for Non-Resident applicants);

2. Letters of recommendations and individual photo.

What rights and privileges will my spouse have once I become a member

A spouse has all of the privileges of a member; voting rights, to serve on Club committees, and

sponsor applicants for membership. Charges for both the member and spouse will appear on the

same billing statement, unless otherwise specified. Upon the death of the primary member, the

spouse is offered consideration of a Surviving Spouse membership at 15% of the resident monthly

dues rate.

Is my membership transferable

No. Under the Minneapolis Club’s 501(c)(7) designation all memberships are considered individual,

not corporate memberships. If a member leaves an organization, the membership cannot be

transferred to a successor. A membership is also not transferable to a family member or friend.

What payment options do I have for my monthly bill

You may either settle your monthly statement – including entrance fees and dues - by check

payment, credit card (3% fee) or you may sign up for ACH Withdrawal from a designated bank

account. When electing ACH, the entire balance on your account at month end will then be deducted

on the 12 th of the month following that statement date. Your statements will be emailed to you.

Will I have full access to the Club Will my family

Yes, all areas of the Club are open to members and their immediate family. Family members other

Children under the age of 18 are not permitted in the Club unless in the continuous presence of an

adult and/or ‘certified’ under the Junior Legacy Program.

As a member, can I bring guests to the Club Is there a limit to my number of guests

The Minneapolis Club is your place – for all business, social and family events. You are welcome to

bring guests to the Club, and there is no limit on your number of guests. For dining, you may wish to

make reservations for large parties. If you are not accompanying your guests during a visit to the

Club you may arrange a daily guest card through the front desk up to six times per year. Members are

responsible for all charges incurred by their guests.

The Health & Fitness Center has special guest policies: Guests of members may use the Health &

Fitness Department facilities on an occasional basis. Each guest must sign in the Fitness Center desk

every time he or she uses the facilities during supervised hours and at the Front Desk during nonsupervised

hours. The Guest Fee is $10.00 per visit. Overnight guests can use the Health & Fitness

Department facilities free of charge.

How do I utilize the Health & Fitness Center

The Health & Fitness Center is available to members for an additional monthly charge of $35.00.

You may choose the Executive Plan at an additional fee on top of the basic membership of $28.00 a

month which includes use of a permanent locker and laundry services.

A spouse may also use the fitness facilities by electing one of the above usage plans. Fitness usage

restrictions for member children vary by age. Please inquire with the Fitness Center Front Desk for

additional information. For those who prefer to use the facilities occasionally, a day rate is available.

What are the hours of the Minneapolis Club

While members enjoy 24-hour access to the Club, food & beverage services are only offered

according to the following schedule: breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served Monday through

Saturday. Saturday is available for party bookings for a food & beverage minimum of $8,500.

Except for major holidays, food & beverage services are not offered on Sundays.

Supervised hours for the Health & Fitness Club are Monday – Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and

Labor Day through Memorial Day, Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

What social events are available for members

The Minneapolis Club offers an abundance of events, some of which are monthly, and some which

occur annually, such as the acclaimed Christmas Day Brunch and New Year’s Day Open House. The

Club also has numerous “clubs within a club” such as the travel and book clubs, which meet

monthly. Finally, impromptu and creative events are planned all the time, so the best way to keep up

with events at the Minneapolis Club is to check with the front desk or visit our Web site under

Calendar of Featured Events.

What are the fees for the parking ramp

Complimentary parking is available before 8:00 a.m., for members who are using the Health &

Fitness center, and after 4 p.m., for members who are using food and beverage services and/or the

Health & Fitness Center. Monthly parking rates are among the most reasonable in the downtown core
