could not put the Country Fair on
without these people’s help.
The concert put on by Windellama
School children was great. Many
thanks to the SES, Fire Brigade,
School, Historical Society and last, but
by no means least, Shirley Cornish for
Monthly crime report
Break and Enters:
Police Report
Over the past six to eight weeks there have
been a number of reported Break and Enters
surrounding the Mount Fairy and Wndellama
area’s.
Sometime prior to the 5 th of March an 800ac
property on Mogo Road which is used as a
weekender was broken into. The unknown
offender has gained entry into a padlocked shed
by cutting the padlock and removing two dirt
bikes. A second shed on the property was also
broken into and the offender/s ransacked the
shed before leaving.
Two weekender properties on Claypit Road
were also broken into and a number of items
stolen. Fingerprints attended and examined the
scenes. At this stage police enquiries are
ongoing. Claypit Road will be a focus over the
next couple of months. If you reside in the
Claypit Road area please continue to report any
activity of concern in your area.
Another property this time in the Mount Fairy
area was broken into where a chainsaw was
taken from a tool box. Again police are still
making enquiries into the break and enter.
Malicious Damage:
Over the weekend of the 25 th of February
unknown persons have gained entry into the
Tarago public school with a vehicle and
performed burnouts on the concrete floor of the
new cola which left black burnout marks on the
slab and then emptied the fire extinguishers
before leaving. The actions of the offender/s
have caused a considerable mess that needed
to be cleaned up.
Traffic:
There was a report of an abandoned vehicle left
near the intersection of Claypit Road and Oallen
Ford Road. Police were able to identify the
owner who was a local resident in the area, who
indicated she had ran out of fuel and had to
leave the vehicle at the location. It was also
ascertained later that the owner was an
unlicensed driver.
Stock
A local resident of Quialigo reported he had
sheep killed by dogs on Hawkes lane. The
victim made claims of his neighbour’s dogs
being responsible for the attack but however
never witnessed the dogs. Enquires were
made and the incident was investigated.
Around the 20 th of February two white female
Dorper lambs aged six months old were
reported stolen from a property on Willow Glen
Road. The victim made extensive enquires
with no positive outcome.
There has been interest in the outcome of the
RSPCA case involving property owners on
Lower Boro Road Boro, as both parties
appeared before the Goulburn local Court on
the 23 rd of February 2011 and faced numerous
charges for cruelty to animals which involved
dogs, puppies and rabbits. RSPCA advised
both entered Guilty pleads and were convicted
and fined $3,500 each, ordered to perform 300
hours community service plus court cost. It’s
also believed that the pet shop owned by both
parties in Canberra was closed. The RSPCA
seized numerous animals throughout their
investigation.
Community Notice:
April will see the beginning of the 2011 soccer
season and after a very long and extensive
effort it is pleasing to be able to announce that
Tarago will have the first ever soccer teams in
the competition. Tarago has entered an under
six’s team, an under ten’s team and a thirteens
side. All these sides are afilliated with MBK
United club in Goulburn but are entered as
Tarago teams. The three teams will be training
from Tarago weekly and will play in Goulburn
on a Saturday. If you have children who would
like to play in any of the teams listed, please
give me a call and I will sort it out for you. For
those children residing in the small towns
surrounding Tarago, you are all welcome to
join and be a part of the Tarago sides. Please
note that even if your child is not turning six,
ten or thirteen this year, then don’t be
concerned, as some children can play up or
down in age. Training will hopefully get under
way in the coming weeks. We currently have a
coach for the under six’s and I am intending to
coach the thirteens. The soccer season kicks
off at the end of April. If you are able to assist
in any coaching role please express your
interest as more hands make for a lighter work
load, and there is currently a vacancy to coach
the under ten’s team.
A reminder that a state wide firearms audit has
commenced. So, please make sure your
licence is current and has not expired and your
storage cabinet complies with the standards,
because when I get your file I will be contacting
you to arrange a time and date to inspect your
firearms and storage cabinet.
If you require a property inspection form,
please contact the station for one to be sent
out to you, or you can pick one up from the
station during work hours.
I thank those from the Bungonia area who
have sent their forms in and encourage
everyone in the area to do the same.
I have started a register to record your
movements when you’re away on leave. All
this means is if your planning a holiday or just
away for a length of time and your house is
going to be vacant, then call me and I will
record your name, number, contact person in
the case of an emergency, and when your
leaving and returning. This will help me to
patrol your area / house during your absence
and hopefully prevent your place being broken
into. There is still no guarantees, but I am
always looking for ways to prevent break and
enters and property theft especially relating to
the weekenders in the area.
Regards
Brad Carey
Senior Constable
Tarago Police Station
48494411
Following my visit to our property last Saturday
morning I discovered that two of our remaining
storage sheds had been broken into by cutting
the padlocks. The main items stolen were two
almost new Atomik 250cc Dirt Bikes (see
photos below) valued at approx. $4,000.
These identical bikes are 4 stroke, 5 speed,
with black coloured petrol tanks with red
decals. They do not have lights or registration.
The bikes had been secured inside this
storage shed with an extra heavy duty steel
chain and lock, but still the thieves were able
to remove them. Our chained and locked entry
gates
were not compromised in any way so we
believe the thieves have entered the property
on their own trail bikes over the older section
of fence line, and exited the same way by
walking out the bikes. Note that the bikes need
keys and batteries to be started, which we do
not leave at the property.
Det. Peter Selmes (Goulburn) is investigating
this vandalism and theft (Police Event No.
E43768405) and I understand that he will be
liaising with the Tarago Police, Senior
Constable Brad Carey.
Should any resident have any information they
From Terence Micó
In April of last year, I reported to you the
complete loss by fire of our weekender cottage
at Oallen plus all contents, our garage and
three motor vehicles. Although it was
suspected arson, the Goulburn detectives (Det.
Peter Selmes) or the Rural Fire Service senior
staff from Goulburn could not establish the
cause. We have owned the property for some
28 years, and until last year we have never had
a problem with vandalism or theft.
