February 6, 2011 Page 5 Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time SENIOR MINISTRY RETREAT/DAY OF REFLECTION Tuesday, February 22, 2011 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM ACTIVITY CENTER “Be Still and Know that I am God” Presented by Fr. Tony Rauschuber, S.J. In our hectic, materialistic world, it is often difficult to spend quiet time with the Lord. The Spirituality Committee of the Senior Ministry invites all adults to a special day of prayer- a time to go deeper in our personal relationship with God, to experience His loving presence , and to listen to the quiet voice within that says “I am with you on the journey.” Cost is $12.00; includes light breakfast, gumbo lunch and presentations. Sign up in the church office until Feb. 16. Checks only, please. About Fr. Tony Rauschuber...in his own words I grew up in a small city in central Texas. Most of my friends were from farming families. My parents were devout Catholics and attended Mass daily. I am the oldest of seven. We prayed together as a family Come after me and I will make you fishers of men. Mt 4:19 every evening, at least until we got to be teenagers. I went to college at Texas A & M and completed degrees in electrical engineering and a master of business administration. I worked 11 years in sales and marketing positions in Dallas and Houston. I was introduced to the Jesuit order after completing college and moving to Dallas for my first job. I did not meet a Jesuit until age 28. The Jesuits at St. Rita’s Church in Dallas impressed me; their preaching reawakened my faith. I was a late vocation, entering the Jesuit novitiate at the age of 36. The Jesuits require extensive training and formation for all their men. So, in addition to six years of college before entering novitiate, the Jesuits sent me through six more years of philosophy and theology study. I taught algebra and moral theology at Jesuit High School in Tampa, Florida as part of my Jesuit formation. I was ordained in 2005 at the age of 46. My first assignment after ordination was to a Jesuit-sponsored elementary and middle-school, The Good Shepherd School in New Orleans. There I taught religion and was assistant principal. I moved to Manresa in June of 2009. Currently I am superior of the Jesuit Community at Manresa. I regularly lead preached retreats at Manresa, as well as celebrating Eucharist and the Sacrament of Reconciliation during all Manresa retreats. I love to fish. My favorite fishing is inshore saltwater for redfish and trout, but I also enjoy fishing for sac-a-lait and bass. Fellowship Sunday is next weekend STM Scouts would like to invite all parishioners to join them as they host Fellowship Sunday on Feb. 13 after the 10 a.m. Mass in the activity center. New families are especially welcome to attend. Make plans now to enjoy food and fun.
