RNA FOLDING DURING TRANSCRIPTION

FOLDING OF RIBOSWITCHES DURING

TRANSCRIPTION

Riboswitches are RNA sequences capable of forming two

distinct structures, in the presence and absence of small-

molecule metabolites or coenzymes.

These RNAs are generally of bacterial origin and are

located upstream of coding regions of enzymes involved

in the metabolism of the molecules they bind to.
