V6.1.4 New Features and Enhancements
V6.1.4 New Features and Enhancements
The following enhancements are included in TrustedLink 6.1.4:
■
■
■
“Audit Enhancement”
“Archive Enhancement”
“Scripted FTP Enhancements”
Audit Enhancement
TrustedLink iSeries users are being asked by their auditors to institute change control
processes and provide audit information from the TrustedLink application. TrustedLink
already provides limited change control features and can also provide some transaction audit
information, but additional audit functionality has been requested.
The 6.1.4 release provides the foundation for tracking information about additions,
modifications, and deletions of certain functions that can affect the movement and translation
of data within TrustedLink.
Audit information for the following items is included in this release:
■ Translation Formats
■ User File Definitions
■ Trading Partner Relationships
■ Partner Address Book
■ Envelope Mapping
A new audit menu provides the following options:
■ Ability to configure whether audit information will be captured.
■ Ability to view a report of the audit log entries.
Archive Enhancement
New archive functionality was provided in TrustedLink 6.1.2 and 6.1.3. The new archive has
different file structures that are incompatible with the archive files provided in older versions
of the product. In TrustedLink 6.1.4, a new tool is being introduced which allows you to
convert your old archive files to the new archive file structures, and save the converted files
offline. Subsequently, you can restore the converted archive data to the Archive Center. This
functionality has been tested with 6.1.2 archive files but should also work with older
versions of the archive files.
Scripted FTP Enhancements
We continue our support of the Scripted FTP offering with the following enhancements:
■
■
■
Allow more control over the removal of “carriage return” and “line feed” either
separately or together within an inbound file.
Provide Trading Partner Relationship level script variables for outbound
partnerships. These variables could be used for functions such as doing a change
directory or building a directory structure on a PUT command based on the
document being sent.
Note: With this enhancement, it may not be necessary to create as many copies
of the Scripted FTP network module as before.
Add support for “SYSCMD REN” similar to the support for “! REN”.
V6.1.3 New Features and Enhancements
V6.1.3 New Features and Enhancements
The following enhancements are included in TrustedLink 6.1.3:
■ “Archive Improvements” on page 5
■ “Capacity Expansion Option Enhancements” on page 6
■ “User File Definition Setup Changes” on page 6
■ “New Delete Inactive Trading Partner Relationships—DLTNETTPR Command” on page 6
Archive Improvements
The archive enhancement in version 6.1.2 provided you with the ability to configure an
online archive library to contain new archive history data generated during the TrustedLink
purge process. In addition, the enhancement provided the ability to work with purged
transaction data in the new online archive.
In version 6.1.3 we further enhanced the new archive system by providing offline archiving,
automatic purging of the online archive, the ability to restore archive data from the offline
archive to the online archive, and additional user interfaces for working with archive
configurations and online and offline archive data.
To summarize, the archive now supports the ability to:
■ Archive data to online and/or offline storage
■ Search for an archived document stored either offline or online
■ Restore document details from offline to online archive
Specifically, you can:
■ Archive purged transaction and communication session information and data to
offline storage
■
■
■
Search and view archived communication session information and data
Manually and automatically delete online archive information and data
Restore archive information and data from offline storage to the online archive.
With this enhanced archiving functionality, it should no longer be necessary to retain as
many transactions in the TrustedLink data library.
Note: The new archive does not support reprocessing or retranslating archived data.
Important:
■
■
If you are upgrading TrustedLink and specified an old archive library in the prior
release, then you must configure the online archive option. Additionally, if you
specified a device in the old archive configuration, you must configure the offline
archive options. You will not be able to run a purge until you configure the online
or offline archive options.
The old archive functionality is no longer supported. We recommend that if you
have your purge process automated calling the UEDPRGMB API or PRGMBX
V6.1.3 New Features and Enhancements
command that you update your program to call the UEDPRGTC API or PRGTC
command. Refer to the TrustedLink Application Program Interface Guide for complete
information.
Capacity Expansion Option Enhancements
TrustedLink iSeries is a robust transformation product capable of processing large volumes of
data. However, some very high volume TrustedLink users have run into several limits when
processing large amounts of data. These limits are in three general categories:
1 Maximum number of transactions (e.g. EDI documents) retained in the Transaction
Center.
2 Maximum amount of data that can be processed by a single translation job.
3 Maximum number of objects that IBM allows in a single library on an iSeries.
The following Capacity Expansion enhancements are now available and can be used if you
choose:
■
■
■
■
The maximum number of Transaction Center entries can be increased from
9,999,999 to 99,999,999. Refer to the impact of expanding the Mailbox ID in the
TrustedLink System Administrator Guide.
The number of translation message space objects can be reduced so that the total
number of objects in the TrustedLink data library will be less likely to reach the
iSeries limit of about 360,000. Refer to message log retention in the TrustedLink System
Administrator Guide.
A new expanded files Internal Storage Method can significantly cut the number of
objects created during translation. Refer to the internal storage method section in
the TrustedLink Document Setup Guide.
Note: This new storage method does not have any record length or record ID
restrictions.
Over twenty five times as much data can be accessed or created as user file or
translated data.
User File Definition Setup Changes
With the addition of the Capacity Expansion Option functionality, changes were also made to
the user file definition configuration to accommodate the new expansion features. The
functional name Optimization Method is now Internal Storage Method and the Method names have
been modified.
Additionally, the User File Definition documentation has been completely enhanced and
modified. We recommend that you review this chapter in the TrustedLink Document Setup Guide.
New Delete Inactive Trading Partner Relationships—DLTNETTPR Command
The Delete Inactive Trading Partner Relationships—DLTNETTPR command deletes all inactive
Trading Partner Relationships for a specified network, direction, and organization. It is
intended to cleanup obsolete Trading Partner Relationships after using the CPYNETTPR and
CHGNETSTS commands.
There is also a new RPTNETTPR command, that can be run before the delete function. This
report lists the Trading Partner Relationships that are eligible for deletion based on the
criteria specified in the command parameters.
V6.1.3 New Features and Enhancements
Miscellaneous Enhancements
Add JDE User File Field Description—ADDJDEDSC Command
You can use the Add JDE User File Field Description—ADDJDEDSC command to repopulate
the JDE field description values for a record format within a user file definition. This
command has been modified to pull field descriptions from either your OneWorld or
EnterpriseOne (Unicode or non-Unicode) DB2 database file, F9203.
Decimal Notation Control Character Selection
You can now choose the decimal notation for outbound XML Trading Partner Relationships.
You can retain the default value, ‘.’ period or change the value to a comma ‘,’ from the dropdown
list.
Prohibiting Concurrent Sessions for IP Exchange
The IP Exchange (IX) communications module has been enhanced to prevent multiple
concurrent sessions for the same copy of the network module.
-99999 and Hex 55 Support
If your application files were built to support -99999 to send a zero value, or a special hex
value to send a blank, TrustedLink can now be configured to recognize these special values in
new translation formats that you create in Version 6.1.3. This allows you to maintain
compatibility with your old Version 2 interface files.
Note: We recommend that you use the keywords and to handle these
conversions.
Transaction Center Deleted Mail Column Heading Change
When viewing deleted mail entries in the Transaction Center, the Sts column heading is
changed to Last Sts. This reflects the last status of the Transaction Center entry before it was
deleted. After a purge is run, the Last Sts value becomes the Pre-purge Status in the Archive
Center if you choose on-line archiving.
New Inovis’ Branding
The TrustedLink JWalk Graphical User Interface has been updated to incorporate the latest
Inovis’ graphics and colors.
Advanced Documentation Search Using PDF Master Indexes
We have enhanced the search capabilities within the documentation allowing you to search
across the entire documentation set using a PDF index (or "master index"). An Adobe PDF
index is a specially created file that spans multiple Adobe PDF files and is available through
Search in Acrobat.
Searching an index is much faster than searching all the text in the individual documents. An
index search produces a results list with links to the occurrences in the entire documentation
set, grouped by the book. It is highly recommended that you choose the Match Whole Word Only
option when searching indexes to significantly reduce the time taken to return results.
To search an Adobe PDF index file, Acrobat must be opened as a standalone application, not
within your Web browser. Selecting the Master Index option from the documentation main
menu automatically opens Acrobat as a standalone application in a new window. We
recommend that you apply the latest Acrobat Reader version which is provided on the
documentation CD or download the latest free Adobe Reader from the Adobe website. You
must have Adobe Reader Version 6.x or later to use the master index search options.
To use the Advanced Documentation Search function, see “Using the Documentation CD” off the
Getting Started menu in the documentation.
Release Notes 7
V6.1.3 Change List
In addition to the search function, you can navigate the documentation using the link
function. These links are created within the documentation as cross-references to related
material. Simply click the blue text and you automatically jump to the page indicated.
Note: If you are using Windows XP with Service Pack 2, we recommend changing an
Internet setting to enhance the navigation features of your browser. Refer to Changing the Active
Content Security Setting in “Using the Documentation CD” off the Getting Started.
Also, there is a known navigation issue if you are using Adobe Reader 7.05. If you select a
link from one of the drop down menu options off the main menu you are taken to page one
of the PDF instead of the exact page for the menu option. This issue is being worked on with
Adobe and we hope to have this resolved in a future release.
V6.1.3 File Changes
V6.1.3 File Changes
Database files that have changed since 6.1.2 are:
■ EDMAST ■ EDMAFAPF
Important: If you have written programs that access EDMAST, you will probably need to
recompile these programs after the 6.1.3 update. Additionally, if you are using any third
party application that may be accessing TrustedLink files, contact your vendor.
Database changes can occur at any time during the development of TrustedLink iSeries.
TrustedLink files are designed to be accessed using the provided APIs or commands. If you do
have programs accessing any of the TrustedLink files, please inform us of your needs so we
can potentially create APIs to access the files. By letting us create these programs, we can
ensure a smooth transition from one release to the next and not introduce potential risks in
your production environments.
Additionally, there have been many new APIs created in the past few releases. We encourage
you to review the TrustedLink Application Program Interface Guide and see what is available.
Logical File Definition Unicode Graphic Field Conversion Support
This TrustedLink enhancement provides more integrated support for application (user) files
defined with Unicode graphic fields. It will assist customers who are using EnterpriseOne or
other application databases that use Unicode graphic fields.
The Logical File Definition Builder has been modified to create logical files that handle the
necessary conversion of graphic field data to single byte data. This provides an easier solution
Release Notes 9
V6.1.2 New Features and Enhancements
for you than manually creating logical files to perform the code conversions. The 1024 byte
record length restriction within the Logical File Definition Builder has also been removed
since the translator can now accommodate longer record lengths by selecting the
Optimization Method Performance.
For complete information, refer to creating logical file definitions in the TrustedLink Document
Setup Guide.
Trading Partner Relationship Hot Key to Transaction Center Subset
You are currently prevented from changing certain Trading Partner Relationship values when
transactions exist in the Transaction Center for the Trading Partner Relationship. This
enhancement provides a link from Trading Partner Maintenance to a subset of the Transaction
Center entries for the specific Trading Partner Relationship being maintained.
If the transactions are no longer needed you have the option to delete them and then change
the Trading Partner Relationship. If the transactions still need to be processed, then you
should not delete the entries and the ability to change the Trading Partner Relationship will
be blocked as in prior releases.
For complete information, refer to viewing Transaction Center entries for a trading partner in
the TrustedLink Document Setup Guide.
Date Increment/Decrement
You can now specify increment and decrement operations in the Visual Mapper when using
date fields, date elements and date work fields. This adds the ability to manipulate dates by a
number of days. The resulting value will be the correct and valid date in the date format of
the field or element to which the data is mapped.
Additionally, work fields may now be explicitly assigned date format codes where in prior
releases of TL iSeries the date format code of a work field was implicitly assigned based on
the mapping. This capability simplifies the conversion from one date format to another
format when using work fields.
For complete information, refer to date increment or decrement calculations in the TrustedLink
Document Setup Guide.
Move/Copy Map Instructions
This enhancement in the Visual Mapper allows a map instruction to be moved or copied
across condition boundaries in addition to the existing functionality in the Show Mapping
Window for moving map instructions up or down.
The enhancements are:
■ Copy and Paste options on the map instruction popup menu that allow copying and
pasting of map instructions.
■
■
Paste option on the segment and condition popup menus that allows the pasting of a
copied map instruction.
Status bar on the bottom of the Show Mapping window that displays the description of the
last copied map instruction.
For complete information, refer to move/copy map instructions in the TrustedLink Document
Setup Guide.
V6.1.2 New Features and Enhancements
Additional Mapper Edits
With this enhancement, when the user changes the data type of a UFD field, work field, EDI
element, XML element, or XML attribute, and mapping exists for the item that would no
longer be valid based on the new item type, the user is asked if they want to remove the
invalid mapping. If they elect to do so, the mapping is removed and the data type of the item
is changed. Otherwise, the data type is left unchanged and no mapping is removed.
Communications Session Expand/Collapse Sub-Sessions
A new command key enables you to expand or collapse sub-sessions when viewing the
Communications Session Status display. This enhancement improves the usability of the
Communications Session Status display when using networks that utilize sub-sessions.
The collapsed mode displays the overall status of the communications sessions and hide the
details of each of the sub-sessions. The expanded mode also includes the status for each subsession.
For complete information, see expand/collapse communication sessions in the TrustedLink Data
Communications Guide.
Communications Script Enhancements for FTP and TIP
You can now copy, display and print scripts for the following networks:
■
■
■
■
Scripted FTP (SF)
IBM FTP (IF)
TIP-Connect/400 (TP)
and copies of these networks
Note: Scripts can only be copied within the same network or across networks that are based
on the same parent network.
For complete information, refer to copying a communication script in the TrustedLink Network
Setup Guidel. This is a new chapter that consolidates all instructions for maintaining
communication scripts.
Share Transaction Center Subsets
You can now specify whether or not a Transaction Center Subset can be shared with other
users.
For complete information, refer to subsets in the Transaction Center in the TrustedLink Data
Communications Guide.
Sub-Session Control Number Exceptions
This enhancement standardizes the recognition, reporting and processing of control number
exceptions for inbound sub-sessions. For control number checking purposes, all sub-sessions
for an inbound communications session are treated as if they are a single session.
Obsolete Data Purge and Archive
Beginning with TrustedLink Version 6.1.2, we are introducing a new Archive Center. This
first phase provides the ability to archive online and to search, view and print archived
purged transactions.
In a subsequent release, the second phase of the Archive Center will add the ability to archive
offline, and to restore back into the online archive. The archive function that existed before
Version 6.1.2 will be removed.
Release Notes 11
V6.1.2 New Features and Enhancements
We recommend that you begin using the new functionality immediately so the documents
you purge and archive online now will be accessible in the second phase of the Archive
Center. Data purged with the “Old Archive Options” will not be compatible with the new
Archive Center options.
Note: Until the second phase of the Archive Center, to move online archive data to offline
storage will require a process outside of TrustedLink.
For complete information, refer to purging data and Archive Center in the TrustedLink System
Administrator Guide.
Trading Partner Relationship Mass Load
This function allows you to create Trading Partner Relationships by adding records to a file
and calling a command. This is intended to be used for a onetime mass load of EDI trading
partner relationships. Trading Partner Relationships added with this command may still need
some modifications to be done via the Trading Partner Relationship maintenance option.
For complete information, refer to the load trading partner relationship command (LODTPR)
in the TrustedLink Application Program Interface Guide.
Capacity Expansion Module
This new optional module enables TrustedLink to operate in a higher volume environment. It
includes options to increase the maximum number of entries in the Transaction Center, and
to control the number of objects in the TrustedLink data library.
Mailbox ID
With this feature you are allowed to have 99,999,999 mailbox entries, instead of the
previous limit of 9,999,999. The expanded mailbox ID is one digit longer than the standard
mailbox ID.
Note: The mailbox ID field remains 10 characters long.
Message Log Space
This option allows you to greatly reduce the number of objects kept in the TrustedLink data
library by controlling the retention of message log user spaces. The message log user spaces
are used to provide data for the generation of the Translation Error Report during the
translation process and for the display of translation messages within the Transaction Center.
You can indicate that the message spaces should always be retained, should only be retained if
there are severe errors, or should always be deleted after the Translation Error Report is
created. If retained, the message log spaces are still deleted when the associated mailbox
entries are purged.
For complete information, refer to implementing the Capacity Expansion Module found
under Optional Modules on the documentation CD.
Transaction Center Conversion
Behind the scenes, the Transaction Center was converted from UIM to Display Files to
support accessing high volumes of transactions.
Compile Error Report
A new Compile Error Report is now produced if a fatal error is encountered during the
compile of a translation format or user file definition. Previously, the compile error
information was only available in the Joblog.
V6.1.0 New Features and Enhancements
Additional Sort Options in Trading Partner Maintenance Lists
TrustedLink is enhanced to sort by the trading partner relationship description in the trading
partner relationship display. A name sort was added to the address book display.
Inbound Syntax Checking—Translation Error Handling
TrustedLink is enhanced to check for additional inbound translation errors including errors
based on Syntax Notes. You can activate this feature by using the Additional Syntax Checks
option through the visual mapper.
Additional syntax checks can be applied to any inbound translation format regardless of the
standard of the format. Additional syntax checks include:
■ Segment and element requirements ■ Element data type
■ Element maximum length ■ Syntax Notes
■
■
■
Syntax Notes define the logical relationships between elements and sub-elements in a
given segment. TrustedLink currently supports ANSI X12 and UCS Syntax Notes from
version 3030 and later.
Before version 6.1.0, some basic syntax checking was performed during inbound
translation. In version 6.1.0, this same basic syntax checking is still performed in
conjunction with the newly provided additional syntax checking. You can select the level
of syntax checking as described below:
ALL—additional checks performed on all segments and elements whether or not they are
selected.
Selected segments only—additional checks performed only on selected segments.
None—checking as it was prior to version 6.1.0 with no additional syntax checking
performed.
Additional Detail Generated for 997 Acknowledgements
This enhancement only applies to ANSI X12 functional acknowledgements (997).
Automatically generated CONTRL and 999 acknowledgements are unchanged.
TrustedLink can generate additional segments in the outbound 997 functional
acknowledgments. This occurs when the segment/element level acknowledgement is
selected in the trading partner relationship and additional inbound syntax checking is
specified in the receive translation format.
TrustedLink supports the following levels of auto-generated 997 acknowledgements:
■ Group—previously known as Summary.
The AK1 and AK9 acknowledgement segments are generated based on documents
included in the received group envelope.
■
Transaction Set—previously known as Detailed.
The AK2 and AK5 acknowledgement segments are generated based on the documents
received. This level includes the AK1 and AK9 segments.
■ Segment/Element—new level in auto-generated 997.
The segments created in the functional acknowledgement based on the level of syntax
checking performed against the segments and elements defined in the map.
This level includes the AK1, AK2, AK5 and AK9 segments.
Release Notes 21
V6.1.0 New Features and Enhancements
The AK3 and AK4 acknowledgment segments are also generated based on the segments
and elements received in the transaction set. The AK3 and AK4 segment creation is
dependant on the selection of additional syntax checking within the translation format.
Your trading partner configuration maintains your current acknowledgment settings based
on the new terminology defined above. If you previously selected summary, it now shows
group as the selection. If you previously selected detailed, it will now show transaction set.
Manually Flag Sent Mail as Acknowledged
This enhancement allows you to change the functional acknowledgement status of sent mail
from waiting (WTG) to receive (RCV) in the Transaction Center. This may be performed on a
outbound Transaction Center entry with a WTG functional acknowledgement status.
You can still use the mailbox entry update functional acknowledgement status (ACKMBXE) command to
