Pedagogical Statement:<br />
I am influenced by normative pluralism. While not a relativist, I believe <strong>the</strong>re is high utility in exposure to strong and<br />
conflicting ide<strong>as</strong>. As such, it w<strong>as</strong> well understood by <strong>the</strong> students that I “liked” all of <strong>the</strong>ir posts, even if such a like<br />
did not indicate <strong>as</strong>sent with <strong>the</strong> message I thought <strong>the</strong>y hoped to convey. Listening to sharp and conflicting ide<strong>as</strong> can<br />
incre<strong>as</strong>e <strong>the</strong> intellectual and emotional tolerance that many lack in our incre<strong>as</strong>ingly reactionary, absolutist society<br />
that seems to give short shrift to <strong>the</strong> importance of deliberation in <strong>the</strong> most complicated age known to man.<br />
