ing to their God-given gifts, both within the
church and community. Members, recognizing
their gifts, live out their calling in
every area of their lives.
Across the nation, a growing number of
thriving congregations believe in the lay
mobilization movement. Each has introduced
a system into their church in which
lay mobilization has flourished.
For many of these congregations, resources
provided by Leadership Training Netwo~k
(LTN), a sister organization of Leadership
Network, have proven to be invaluable
during the initial exploration and decisionmaking
stages. Since its inception in 1994,
LTN has guided hundreds of congregations
to create and implement a system which
helps laity discover their gifts and find
places to serve. LTN's Sfarter Kit for
Mobilizing Ministry continues to be a good
step-by-step guide for churches beginning
this process. In addition, LTN continues to
help find, train and provide an on-going
peer-coaching network for church professionals
involved in lay ministry.
process is that it guarantees a higher
success rate. We are now able to mobilize
people into ministries that are best suited to
their gifts."
Gloria Reynolds, All Saints Episcopal
Church's director of lay ministry, believes
their lay involvement has blessed many
within and beyond the church walls. "What
excites me is to see the faces of our church
members and those they serve. My hope is
that some day all our members will be using
their God-given gifts in His service."
The importance and value of lay mobilization
within a congregation is real. Signposts
within our culture continue to tell us that
there's a growing yearning for a spiritual
compass, a cry for the genuine - the authentic.
Engaging lay members in meaningful ministry
fulfills their desire to connect with others
and provides a platform from which they
can bring their faith to life.
