The Diffusion Of
Innovations Workshop
with Dr. Everett Rogers
Long-time readers of NEXT or NetFax
will recognize the diagram on the
right. It comes from the seminal book
by Dr. Everett Rogers entitled The Diffusion
of Innovations.
This book is the study of how innovative ideas
and practices are spread through a system. It
is a leading textbook on communications and
innovation theory.
The book, first written in the 1960’s and
frequently updated, includes understandings
that now guide high-tech companies, marketing
firms and consultancies as well
as governments.
Dr. Rogers, professor of communications at
the University of New Mexico, will be leading a
workshop for Church Champions on May
17–18, 1999 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
This workshop seeks to answer two basic
questions:
• How are innovative ideas
spread through a system
• How can Church Champions
use the diffusion principles
to speed adoption of new
techniques

Participants in the workshop will learn about
each category as well as the ability to apply it
to churches under their care. Each category
needs different means of influence to yield
maximum results.
This event is open for all Church Champions
who work with multiple congregations as well
as interested local church leaders.
