Greater confidence in results.
“We liked our Hach LDO meter—it was a significant improvement over the
membrane-type unit we had been using. But when I took the HQ40d meter out in the
plant and tested it against the LDO meter, I could run five tests with it in the same time
it took me to perform only one with the other unit. It locks in very quickly. Also, a calibration
system alerts the user to when recalibration is needed. This, combined with the faster
response time, gave us increased confidence in our results.”
Minimize errors with
data-logging and data transfer.
“With our previous pH meter and our galvanic-type DO meter, we did not have
the capability to electronically store data. Because we’ll now be able to store data
and download it straight to our computer, we won’t have to write numbers
down by hand and key them in later. This will eliminate the potential
for transcription errors.”
Pocket Pal pH Testers
Pocket-sized pH testers for quick, easy, accurate measurements.
Applications
• Plating
• Water conditioning
• Boiler/cooling water
• Lakes and rivers
• Food processing
• Swimming pools and spas
• Anywhere humidity levels are high
Now IP67 rated* (dustproof and waterproof), Pocket Pal Testers are
immune to harsh environments and accidental spills that could harm
electronics. If accidentally immersed in water, the circuitry will remain
unharmed. Pocket Pal Testers clip onto your shirt pocket, produce
immediate results, and feature an easy-to-read liquid crystal display
(LCD). While not recommended as a replacement for a pH or ORP
instrument/electrode system, or a Hach Conductivity or TDS meter,
Pocket Pal Testers offer a cost-effective alternative for routine, onthe-spot
measurements.
Temperature Pocket Pal Tester
Range: -15 to 170°C
The Temperature Pocket Pal Tester is an accurate, economical tester
offering a wide range of measurement otherwise requiring two glass
thermometers.
pH Pocket Pal Tester
Range: 0.0-14.0 pH Resolution: 0.1 pH Accuracy: ±0.2 pH
The pH Pocket Pal Tester is ideal for quick, on-site pH testing.
Applications include water quality testing at cooling towers,
swimming pools and spas**. Hach color-coded, unit-dose pH buffer
powder pillows, which ensure freshness and eliminate the possibility
of contamination, and prepared pH buffer solutions are available in
three pH values, 4.01, 7.00, or 10.00 (see pages 50-51). They are
recommended for calibration adjustments.
TDS Pocket Pal Tester
Range: 10-1990 TDS
IP67 rated (waterproof and dustproof). Ideal for quick TDS spot
checks, this tester is not a replacement for a conductivity or TDS
meter. Tester accuracy is ±2% at 25°C and accuracy can be ±10%
of reading over the temperature measurement range. (For more
accurate measurement, use the HQ14d, HQ30d, or HQ40d Meters,
see pages 36-37.) Results are displayed digitally. Prepared sodium
chloride solution is available and is required for calibration.
Conductivity Pocket Pal Tester
Range: 10-1990 µS/cm
The Conductivity Pocket Pal Tester is ideal for swimming pools and
drinking water control. Now IP67 rated. Rugged, dustproof and
waterproof plastic body, and easy-to-read digital display make it
perfect for on-site measurement. Other applications include water
treatment (softener, demineralization, reverse osmosis, and drinking
water), fish farming and aquariums, and pollution control. Prepared
sodium chloride solution is available and is required for calibration.
ORP Pocket Pal Tester
Range: ±999 mV
The ORP Pocket Pal Tester offers an accurate and affordable way of
testing for redox potential. Because there are no chemical test kits or
litmus paper for measuring this parameter, the ORP Pocket Pal Tester
is a valuable tool, assuring accuracy, fast response, and excellent
repeatability. The ORP Pocket Pal Tester is not IP67 rated. Lights
solution is available to check electrode potential.
*Only the Temperature, pH, TDS, and Conductivity Pocket Pal Testers
are IP67 rated.
**Testing in the presence of heavy metals or in liquids warmer than 50°C
is not advised.
2100 Series Portable Turbidimeter
Laboratory Turbidimeters
Bringing laboratory-level performance on-site.
Lab-Quality Results in a Portable Unit
The 2100P Portable Turbidimeter performs at a level normally
associated with laboratory instruments. Its microprocessor-controlled
touch-key functions and patented Ratio Optical System bring
greater accuracy, sensitivity, and reliability to field testing. The twodetector
optical system compensates for color in the sample, light
fluctuation, and stray light, allowing analysts to achieve laboratorylevel
results with a wide range of samples, even under difficult
on-site conditions.
Direct Digital Readout of Results
The 2100P provides direct digital readout in nephelometric
turbidity units (NTUs), completely eliminating the uncertainty of
analog indicators and the need for calculations or interpolation
of calibration charts.
• Selectable signal averaging mode compensates for fluctuations in readings
caused by movement of large particles in the light path
• Pre-programmed calibration procedure, with microprocessor-controlled
adjustment of calibration curve. No potentiometers to adjust
• Electronic zeroing: compensates for electronic and optical offsets; no manual
adjustments are required
• Built-in diagnostics
accessible with
one keystroke
• Range: 0 to 1000 NTUs
• Direct digital readout
in NTU
• Meets or exceeds EPA
method 180.1 criteria
• Two-year warranty
Ideal for Regulatory Reporting
With a measurement range of 0 to 1000 NTUs and resolution to 0.01
NTU, the 2100P is ideal for regulatory monitoring, process control
applications, and field studies. Choose from three manual range
modes: 0 to 9.99, 0 to 99.9, or 0 to 1000 NTU. Or select automatic
range mode for samples that vary widely in turbidity.
Ready for Field Use
The 2100P comes field-ready with four AA alkaline batteries
(optional battery eliminator available), all necessary apparatus, a set
of primary and secondary standards, and a rugged carrying case.
The instrument itself weighs less than 0.45 kg (~1 lb). The complete
analytical package, including case, apparatus, standards, and
instructions, weighs just under 2.7 kg (6 lb).
Turbidity Standards
StablCal ® Stabilized Formazin Primary Standards
StablCal Stabilized Formazin Turbidity Standards are true Formazin dilutions developed for
use in any turbidimeter. With proprietary manufacturing technology, Hach prepares StablCal
Standards in precise concentrations for conventional turbidimeters. Shelf life is guaranteed
on unopened bottles for two years from date of manufacture. Monitor wastewater effluent,
high-quality treated drinking water, or an industrial process stream with complete confidence
in the results with Hach StablCal Stabilized Formazin Standards.
StablCal Stabilized Formazin Standards are equivalent in performance to Formazin primary
standards, but require no special preparation. Accuracy is assured by reducing the margin
for error while greatly reducing labor and precious time in the laboratory. Calibration of
turbidimeters with StablCal can be done quickly and accurately.
• No preparation of Formazin stock
• No dilutions
• Minimal handling
• No special glassware or difficult lab techniques
AutoCAT 9000 Titrator
Titration Products
Revolutionary instrument for
automatic amperometric
titrations.
• Automatic calculation of analyte concentration
• Automatic “hands-free” operation
• Easy-to-use interface
• Real-time graphics and graphic print output
• Automatic archiving of results
• Titrant calibration
• Electrode cleaning
• Greater accuracy and precision than manual titrations
Built-In Titrant Standardization Procedures
Users are guided through the standardization of the titrant with
methods built into the instrument. Titrant concentration is
automatically updated after standardization and can also be entered
from the Certificate of Analysis (downloadable from www.hach.com),
for the specific lot of titrant used.
The AutoCAT 9000 has the
following USEPA approved
methods:
• Forward titration for Free Chlorine, 0.1 to 5 mg/L
(Standard Method 4500-Cl D. 4b)
• Forward titration for Total Chlorine, 1.2 µg/L to 5 mg/L
(Standard Method 4500-Cl D. 4d)
• Back titration for Total Chlorine, 5.1 µg/L to 5 mg/L
(Standard Method 4500-Cl C.)
• Chlorine Dioxide with Chlorite, 0.1 to 5 mg/L
Standard Method 4500-ClO 2 E.)
• Sulfite (as SO 2 , Sodium Bisulfite)
Automated EPA Approved Methods
The AutoCAT automates the USEPA approved amperometric titration
procedures for chlorine, chlorine dioxide, and chlorite determinations
as described in “Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and
Wastewater.” Sample preparation is presented to the user in easy to
understand screen displays. When the titration begins, the titration is
entirely “hands-off.”
Real-Time Graphic Display of the Titration Curve
See the data as it is collected, to immediately assess the quality of
the analysis.
Full- and Semi-Automatic End Point Determination
Endpoints can be identified by automatically determining the
intersection of straight line-fits to the titration data points.
Alternatively, the user can select regions of the titration curve before
and after the endpoint. Best line-fits are then used through these
regions to determine the endpoint. Data is graphically displayed on
the screen. Endpoint determination can be repeated before accepting
the final result.
Automatic Calculation of Analyte Concentrations
After the endpoint is determined, concentration is automatically
calculated using the titrant concentration, volume of titrant delivered
at the endpoint, and the appropriate formula for the selected method.
Graphic Hard Copy of Analysis Results
Printed copies of analysis reports can be made with graphic titrant
curve and text.
Hach Digital Titrator
Titration Products
Accurate, convenient titrations without the bulk, fragility,
or waste of a conventional buret.
EPA
Equivalency
for the following
Digital Titrator
methods:
Acidity, Alkalinity,
Chloride,
Calcium Hardness,
Total Hardness,
Sulfite
• Faster than a buret
• Rugged design
• 18 parameters
• Interchangeable cartridges
Digital Titrator: Fast, Precise, Economical
Precise, less technique-sensitive
Digital Titrator automatically calculates precise volume of titrant dispensed.
Accuracy obtained in microliters.
End-point easier to determine
The number used for calculation of sample concentration is recorded directly
from the Digital Titrator’s digital counter.
Saves time
Titrant cartridges can be changed in seconds and eliminate glassware clean
up before and after titration.
No cross contamination
Cartridges are always fresh and sealed against outside contamination.
Economical
Cartridges contain strong, concentrated reagents, so comparatively low
volumes are used – waste is minimal.
Portable
With the Digital Titrator, titrations can be performed in the manufacturing plant
or the field.
Problems with Buret Technique
Buret technique is dependent on operator skill.
Operator must examine level of buret to determine volume dispensed,
a technique subject to visual interpretation.
Titrant solutions must be prepared and measured, and all glassware must
be acid-washed, rinsed with DI water, and dried.
Improper handling of reagent solutions and even slightly soiled glassware
can compromise results.
Buret reagents are formulated with chemicals of low normality and
subsequently require higher volumes. Ratio of standard titrant to D.T.
cartridge is approximately 80:1.
Buret glassware cannot be safely transported to the plant or field.
Buret titrations require glass buret, buret stand, buret clamp, and
funnel for filling.
DRB 200 Dry Thermostat Reactor
Sample Preparation
The simple solution for standard and special digestions.
• Easy-to-use and fast
• Safe to operate
• Accommodates a variety of test vials
• Optional dual block for simultaneous digestions
The Hach DRB 200 Dry Thermostat Reactor provides unique one-key
operation. Programs for Hach procedures with digestion are
preprogrammed into the instrument. And it’s fast—the block heats
from ambient to 150°C in less than 10 minutes. Safe to operate. The
fully insulated heater block of the DRB 200 reactor prevents skin
contact with the heater block. Temperature safeguards are provided
to prevent overheating. The lids are transparent and lock to deter
premature checking of the progress of the reaction. And the reactor
will emit an audible signal and automatically shutdown at the end of
the run. Optional dual block for simultaneous digestions. Two heat
blocks in the DRB200 reactor give the operator independent control
of two temperatures and durations. Use this option to run two
programs at the same time.
Xenosep ® Oil and Grease Systems
Sample Preparation
At last, an easy, EPA-approved method for oil and grease!
Lab Stand and Clamp sold separately.
EPA
APPROVED
METHOD
Xenosep Solid-Phase Extraction (SPE) Systems offer the easiest and
most cost effective way to test for Oil and Grease using EPA Method
1664A. Fast, in-house results enable you to maintain control over
your plant discharges in real time without the complications of the
hexane LLE procedure. Xenosep SPE filters feature a unique triple
layer that prevents premature clogging and flows 10 times faster than
typical SPE filters.
It is now possible to easily achieve reliable, consistent Oil and Grease
results and decrease your sample turnaround time. A free training
video on CD is included with each Starter Kit to show your lab how
to perform EPA Method 1664A by SPE. For more information on
Xenosep SPE Systems, visit our website at www.hach.com/xenosep.
Xenosep SPE Systems are available in convenient kits which
include the components for 24 tests and all the glassware required
to process them, one at a time. Replacement components are also
