An extremely large range of unusual plants (bulbs, perennials, climbers, trees and shrubs, house plants), specialist nurseries and national collections, a careful selection of outstanding garden sundries. 1. EDITORIAL For the 59 th Courson Flower Show we have chosen the wind as our theme, under the title Gone With The Wind. After extensive research throughout France we have come up with the best plants to use as wind screens for different soil types and climates. We have also looked at how wind disperses seeds and how it can create beautiful effects in the garden. For the past decade, Friday has been events day, which sets the news agenda of the Flower Show. That is the day we present the latest Handbook of Garden Trends, charting changes in gardening habits, produced by the OTJ (Observatoire des Tendances Jardin), supported by the Jardiland Institute. This year it explores how knowledge is handed on to future generations, both professionals and amateurs, and looks at urban farms as a sign of the times. The Friday diary includes namings of new varieties and labelling of new plant collections, talks by experts – often from abroad – and nursery associations, the awarding of the Courson Prizes and Merits, as well as book launches. Its wealth of events is testament to the dynamism of the whole gardening profession, especially with the involvement of new, young exhibitors. In the Around the Garden section, we showcase beautiful garden products, whether they are crafted with traditional skills or made using high technology. Our thanks to the exhibitors and juries, and of course to all our loyal visitors, who have been coming to our spring and autumn Flower Shows for more than 30 years.
