1. Place of Work<br />
Strathmore Estates office is situated in the village of <strong>Glamis</strong>. The <strong>Castle</strong> office is located within the<br />
grounds of <strong>Glamis</strong> <strong>Castle</strong>, situated close to the village of <strong>Glamis</strong>, which is approximately 5 miles<br />
south west of Forfar and 12 miles north of Dundee.<br />

2. Main Purpose of <strong>Job</strong><br />
To assist in a variety of accounting and clerical tasks relating to the various Strathmore entities.<br />
3. Accountability<br />
The Accounts Assistant is directly responsible to the Accounts Manager, and in her absence, to the<br />
Estate Factor.<br />
4. Liaison<br />
The Accounts Assistant is required to maintain close liaison with the Estate Factor, <strong>Castle</strong><br />
Administrator, <strong>Castle</strong> Business Manager, Accounts Supervisor, the Estates Office staff (and <strong>Castle</strong><br />
Opening staff in relation to accounting matters).<br />
5. Duties<br />
A flexible and helpful approach is required in dealing with the many and varied tasks associated with<br />
the work within an estate office and also in dealings with other members of staff and visitors to the<br />
office. Anticipation of requirements and initiative in dealing with problems that arise are essential<br />
attributes for the job. Likewise accuracy and attention to detail is paramount.<br />
6. Key Tasks<br />
<strong>Purchase</strong> <strong>Ledger</strong>: Computer processing of supplier invoices and payment of suppliers.<br />
<strong>Sales</strong> <strong>Ledger</strong>: Computer generating of sales invoices.<br />
Timesheets: Processing of weekly timesheets.<br />
Cash & Banking: Assisting with the balancing of daily takings received. Transporting funds to and<br />
from the bank as required.<br />
Accounts Other: To assist in all other aspects of accounts preparation and processing that may be<br />
required. A working knowledge of Access Accounts, Excel spreadsheets and VAT (partial exemption)<br />
would be advantageous.<br />
General: To carry out, within the Estates Office, general office tasks that may be required eg.<br />
reception duties, answering of the telephone, photocopying, filing.<br />

7. Transport<br />
No transport is available but if a private car is used on Estate business, a mileage allowance will be<br />
paid. Own transport is essential.<br />
8. Terms & Conditions<br />
Hours of Work: The normal hours of work will be 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday, with one<br />
hour unpaid lunch break.<br />
Salary: Salary payable will be commensurate with experience.<br />
Place of Work: The Accounts Assistant will predominately work within the Estates Office but will be<br />
required to spend one or two hours daily at the <strong>Castle</strong> Office (variable depending on the time of year<br />
and workload).<br />
Clothing: Attire should be smart, projecting a professional image.<br />
Holidays: The Accounts Assistant may take up to 29 days holiday per year (inclusive of public<br />
holidays). The annual holiday year runs from 1 January to 31 December and entitlement will be pro<br />
rata for incomplete years of service.<br />
Smoking: Smoking is prohibited in any of the Estate and <strong>Castle</strong> buildings.<br />
