Course Outline
Mr Reimer
Graphic design is also known as “visual communication”; in other words, it is
communicating an idea or message in a visual way. This is typically a combination
of one or more of the following: images, text, symbol or shapes.
In this course, you will be learning about the elements of art and design and how
to use those to make an effective design. Though most of the work we do will be
on the computer, drawing skills are a valuable asset (though not completely
necessary).
Graphic Design 10, 20 and 30 are all three credit courses, meaning that you will be
given individual marks per module. If you do not pass a given module, you don’t
receive credit for that module.
Each module is broken down into 3 assignments: 2 minor assignment, and 1
major assignment. The major assignment will be worth 60% of the module mark,
and the minor assignments will be worth 20% each. All of your projects for all
three modules will be handed in together as a digital portfolio (ie. PowerPoint, or
another digital presentation of your choice).
COM1005:Visual Composition is a pre/co-requisite for this course, meaning that
you must pass COM1005 in InfoPro 10 to receive the Graphic Design credits.
Here is the breakdown of the courses:
