Reusing pre-consumer excess - Reuse Alliance

ReuseConex 2012

“. . . Nor can we consume the earth’s

resources without regard for effect.”

Barack Obama, inaugural address. Jan. 20, 2009

LOOPTWORKS is NOT a sustainable, green or

eco‐friendly company.

LOOPTWORKS is a conservation company that

conducts it’s business in the most

environmentally responsible manner currently

possible.

We are working towards closed loop

manufacturing.

“Water and air, the two essential fluids on

which all life depends, have become global

garbage cans.”

Jacques Yves Cousteau

“Once the world’s fourth-largest lake, the sea has

shrunk by 90 percent since the rivers that feed it were

largely diverted in a Soviet project to boost cotton

production in the arid region.”

The Numbers

- It takes between 400 – 800 gallons of water to make 1

organic cotton shirt

-There are two kinds of excess – Post Consumer and Pre

Consumer

- There is 70 times more Pre Consumer Excess on the

planet that Post.

- Between 15% - 30% of all new materials never get used

in production

The most environmentally responsible

thing to do is to NOT create any new

materials.

LOOPTWORKS was founded on one

simple mantra – We use only what

already exists to build our products and

run our company.

What LOOPTWORKS does is not the solution

to the world’s problems. It is the duct tape that

moves the conversation forward.

True closed loop manufacturing is how we

use business to create a truly “sustainable”

Economy.

How do we work together to avoid excess

from turning into waste?

Our collaboration efforts thus far . . .
