BIO:
Patrick is a specialist in Participatory Planning & research, working
with communities in the developing world to develop and implement
strategic plans and programs for land use management, indigenous
knowledge, watershed management, environmental protection,
sustainable development and poverty alleviation. Patrick has over ten
years experience working with community groups, international nongovernmental
organizations, municipal, provincial and national governments
in Canada, China, Korea, and Laos on issues of community
planning, sustainable development, land use and environmental
protection. Recipient of a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in
Environmental Studies from the University of Northern British
Columbia, Patrick recently returned from more than two years working
with CUSO in Laos where he successfully facilitated several high
profile initiatives regarding indigenous knowledge, traditional agriculture,
land use management, watershed and environmental protection,
and the provision of clean water infrastructure for upland communities.
Passionately committed to the principles and ideals of sustainable
people centred development, Patrick is always keen to share his experiences
and knowledge with Canadians with intent of fostering
greater knowledge and understanding of international development
issues.
