BIO:<br />
Patrick is a specialist in Participatory Planning & research, working<br />
with communities in the developing world to develop and implement<br />
strategic plans and programs <strong>for</strong> land use management, indigenous<br />
knowledge, watershed management, environmental protection,<br />
sustainable development and poverty alleviation. Patrick has over ten<br />
years experience working with community groups, international nongovernmental<br />
organizations, municipal, provincial and national governments<br />
in Canada, China, Korea, and Laos on issues of community<br />
planning, sustainable development, land use and environmental<br />
protection. Recipient of a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in<br />
Environmental Studies from the University of Northern British<br />
Columbia, Patrick recently returned from more than two years working<br />
with CUSO in Laos where he successfully facilitated several high<br />
profile initiatives regarding indigenous knowledge, traditional agriculture,<br />
land use management, watershed and environmental protection,<br />
and the provision of clean water infrastructure <strong>for</strong> upland communities.<br />
Passionately committed to the principles and ideals of sustainable<br />
people centred development, Patrick is always keen to share his experiences<br />
and knowledge with Canadians with intent of fostering<br />
greater knowledge and understanding of international development<br />
issues.<br />
