Regularly scheduled courses (I have designed all courses below):
• Ideology of Educational Space (ISE)
(EDER 689.45)x7
Intended for students from a variety of academic disciplines, this interdisciplinary course, critically
examines the cultural and historical impact of space on teaching and learning, educational policy,
curriculum, and social organization.
• Visual Culture and Education (ISE)
(EDER 689.44)x7
This course critically examines the historical and cultural impact of visual culture in education on
the construction and representation of identities, culture, and history through textual, spatial,
artifactual, and photographic images.
• Introduction to Interpretive Inquiry (ISE)
(EDER 603.01)x3
This course introduces students to the loose array of approaches to educational inquiry gathered
under the term "qualitative research" that are not grounded in (positivist) science, hence the
name ”interpretive” as opposed to qualitative. The course is an introduction to interpretive work
within established qualitative traditions like ethnography, narrative inquiry, phenomenology,
hermeneutics, feminism, and historical inquiry.

E. Lisa Panayotidis…20
• Studying Curriculum: Histories of Curriculum in Canada (ISE) (EDER 681)x3
This course critically examines the social, material, historical and cultural curricula histories in
Canada and the always multiple and fluid ways through which ideological beliefs about the value
and the “good” of curriculum have been enacted. It considers contemporary notions of historical
practice, the writing/representation of interpretive histories, and the effects of new ways of
thinking about historical consciousness.
