RIVER SESH
For the past two years a dedicated group of senior students from Camden Haven High School have
been the driving force behind River Sesh. River Sesh is an annual event which provides young local
artists with a safe environment to showcase their talents. This year’s cohort is keen to keep the
tradition going and build on the success of previous years.
Visual Arts student and designer of this year’s poster, Brigette Beyer, says “River Sesh provides an
avenue for the youth of the Camden Haven/Hastings area to participate in a major event and express
themselves creatively.”
River Sesh will be held at Laurieton United Servicemen’s Club (LUSC) on Saturday 21 July 2012. The
event starts at 6pm in LUSC Sports Bar.
For a gold coin donation, under 25s can enjoy an evening of fantastic music, beautiful views, wonderful
company and a sausage sizzle. River Sesh is strictly a drug and alcohol free event. Please contact
Camden Haven High School for further details.
BE FIRE SAFE THIS WINTER
Winter’s chill has arrived and with it our scramble for heaters, electric blankets and open fires.
Entertaining is now year round thanks to portable outdoor gas heaters. But with all these
conveniences come fire dangers. Statistics reveal that almost half of all home fires are started in
the kitchen and 43 per cent of all fire fatalities occur in winter.
NSW Fire and Rescue reminds us to do a fire safety audit of our homes this winter, check smoke
detectors are working and ensure appliances such as clothes dryers and dishwashers are running
efficiently and safely. For more household fact sheets and useful videos on how to protect your
home and family from fire go to www.fire.nsw.gov.au/
VOLUNTEERING FOR HAPPINESS
Volunteering is the giving of your time, expertise or skills to help others. Most not-for-profit
organisations rely on volunteers to keep running to provide goods and services to those who need them.
Research also shows that volunteering makes you feel good!
So if you or your teen can spare some time to help out in your community, check out the new improved
